Greetings from Kansas! I am trying to get this info on as many gun collector/enthusiasts forums as possible. I am looking for my dad's Vietnam bring back pistol. It is a Chinese/CHICOM "Tokarev" Type-54, 7.62x25mm pistol. The serial # is 13000041. This would put the manufacture date at 1966 (early 1966). My dad brought it back from the war in 1971. It was stolen from my childhood home in the early 80's (around 1982), in Spruce Pine, NC (Mitchell County). My dad had just promised to pass the gun down to me shortly before it was stolen. I would have been around 12 or 13 years-old at the time. My dad passed several years back and I did receive what few guns he had left, along with all the original capture documents/export licenses for this gun. I am now on an improbable mission to try and find this gun. I am getting as much help as I can through law enforcement, but I figured doing some leg work myself couldn't hurt. I have joined so many forums/sites that I can't keep them all straight. I definitely wanted to focus in the southeast part of the country, but there is no telling how many times this gun has changed hands over the years and where it might have ended up. I am offering a reward of double the gun's value, no questions asked, for it's return. Again, this is a non-import 'bring back', so there are no U.S. import stamps/markings and no manual safety. The SN would be on the top slide underneath three Chinese characters. The SN would also be on the left side of the frame, along with the arsenal/factory #, which is 66, and the manufacture date, which should also be 1966. There are other variants out there, but this is the Chinese version or copy of the Russian "Tokarev" TT-33. I have seen quite a few on different websites for sale. I didn't realize how many of these guns made it back from the Vietnam war. Some with capture documentation and some probably without. This one my dad brought back with the capture documents, which I still have. It is a long shot at best, but definitely not going to happen if I don't try. Thanks again for reading and passing along to others who may buy, sale, trade, or collect these type of weapons.
