I am interested in reloading. At this stage, I just want some feedback on what equipment would best suit my goals so I can start accumulating the components piece by piece. I was looking at the Dillon 650 as this seems to be a versatile press and well reviewed. I want the ability to load multiple pistol and rifle calibers, preferably a lot at once. I have read that it is best to start out on a single stage, and then advance to a turret or progressive. Is that necessary? Is there a press that makes for easy caliber swaps? Does anyone melt their own lead and is it worth doing so? Thanks.

My Lee Loadmaster does every center fire caliber I shoot, rifle and pistol. I currently reload .38/.357, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .223 and 30-30. It owes me nothing and produces quality ammo. It can be finicky but usually it's easy to figure out what it doesn't like and correct it. It's not plug and play (but what press is?) but it's solid and inexpensive.
