I've been lurking for a bit and decided I should say hello. I didn't start shooting until I was over 50 but it's become a passion. I have focused on pistols in 9mm (mostly due to budget). I shoot Action Pistol matches at the Wake County Range, IDPA in Oxford and at Caswell Ranch, and I recently tried a BUG match.
I started my journey solo and appreciate all the mentors I've had along the way so I volunteer for Women on Target events a few times a year and really enjoy seeing other women discover that they can master a firearm.
I started a blog to journal about my experiences learning to shoot. I posted nightly about the Carolina Cup last week. I worked on the stats team and shot the match with the volunteers. I'm not very competitive but I enjoy the experience.
My blog is here: http://girlgoesbang.com/
I have a facebook page up if you don't use an RSS reader and would like to see when updates are posted:
