If You Are Going To Have A Web Site...

You should use it to update exceptions to your normal work schedule. Or don't have a web site and force people to call. But not both. As someone who is paid handsomely for my technology skills, this is my .10.

I have instituted a new rule. One visit when you say you are going to be open. If you have blown it off for the day, I'll be buying over the web or from one of your competitors.

If you want to know, say so. I will PM you. I have no idea if the service at this location is good or bad, normally. I have no idea if their recommendations are sound. Sitting in the parking lot counts me as still a prospective customer.

For that reason, I choose not to name them in this post. I am sure there are many other shops guilty of same.

I think I speak for most here in saying that I have no idea what you are talking about. If you have a gripe or a bad experience with a place, please let us know. Having people PM you for it is a bit, how shall I say, unwieldy. I mean, we all have bad experiences we could share about places if we were PMed and asked.

It was a local dealer, hence I posted it here. It was also a larger complaint about the use of technology to further one's business. I wasted an hour earlier today because a place said it was open and ultimately was not, as the shop owner/manager had gone on vacation. This place took the time to code an eye-catching revolving banner, but did not take the time to say, "Hey, we'll be out of town for the 4th!"

It was absolutely a rant. The mods can shut this down if they think it is inappropriate or unwieldy.

Well, if its a forum sponsor then perhaps they have an excuse, or at least its info the rest of us may need. Otherwise, yes, I agree, not posting a sign stating you will be closed when its normal business hours is inconvenient.

To play devils advocate, the owner might not be computer proficient, and had a friend make the website to get his name out there. They might not know how to change things, and just treat it as an ad they pay for in the paper.

I would argue a web site like this one would be a much better vehicle than trying to design yourself or have a family member assist. You can get much more traction from gun-hungry folks that are here posting than you ever would guessing a unique name and google-bombing it to the top. You could even post outages here. Another possibility would be Facebook, which is pretty much set up for you out of the box, and gun for followers. This person is obviously somewhat familiar with web vehicles because I located them through a well-known (comically) classified site, noticed their location, and engaged them via e-mail to learn about their physical location.

Was not a sponsor based on the sponsor forum list. If there is a more complete list than that, I am happy to verify.

I almost thought this was me for a second. Then I remembered that I don't have a parking lot :).

We have website that isn't up and running. I bought the domain name and I haven't done anything with it. I know how to jazz it up but we have been so busy selling locally that the website is second hand to me. We will get it up and going eventually. We still have to get through the move, 12 shows in 13 weeks, the school year approaching, and everything else that life throws at you.

This is a dealer review section. If you want to name the place and do a proper review, please do so. Otherwise I'm going to remove this thread from this section.

The review only works if you name the place. No guessing games in this section.

Thanks.
