Anyone around Wendell,nc ever shopped at Perry's Gun Shop?

They have a pistol I might be interested in but they are two hours away. Just wanting somemfeedback on them. If it might be worth my drive down?

They have a STAR model b 9mm listed on guns America that caught my eye!

Don't.

My main complaint, quite apart from high prices and dawdling/nonexistant service, is that they encouraged me to break federal law in transfering a firearm out of ignorance.

I would look there, but I would never buy, and haven't darkened the door since they revealed how ignorant they were of the laws that keep them in business.

My time in the area is better spent at PDHSC or at Agri Supply.

I confess I've never seen guns in Ag Supply myself, but I haven't been there since Christmas either. I was just thinking of stores to kill time in and stay in the general area. I can lose myself for hours in Agri Supply, unfortunately at the end I get to the counter and I've spent $100 or more.

Ooohh...Agri Supply has guns now? My favorite store just got favorite-er.

Apologies for the hijack...
Small, separately owned business. Looks to be mainly a gunsmith that sells and consigns guns.
But you think Perry's has high prices, you should stop in and check out the guns at the Agri Supply.
When I was there I just shook me head and walked away.

"ehh" is how I would describe Perry's - which is neither good nor bad.

As far as customer service goes, yes, they may ignor you when you walk in but sometimes that is ok by me for I do not need someone bothering me, especially if I'm just "tire kicking." If I have a question or want to see a gun in a case, I will ask and I have been well served. I bought my very first M&P from them for surprisingly they had the best price at that time. IMO, their selection of extra goodies is tops. Yes their prices are not always the best, but if you can't find what you are looking for elsewhere, and buying on line is not any better when S&H is included in the price, Perry's is a decent shop. Ammo variety/selection is great!! Too bad the prices are not. If there is a negative on Perry's that would be it. They have pretty attractive sales couple times a year. Currently they have a sale on Ruger products.

I agree, MD...I don't necessarily like or expect someone fawning all over me just because I walked in, but I've bought a large safe, shotgun, bolt rifle/scope, a couple of handguns, and a pisspot full of ammo at Perry's. I'd like them to at least say Hi when I go in. Most times no one acknowledges me until I drag out my wallet.

Been there several times and have friends whom shop there regularly. Nice folks. Prices are what you would expect from a local shop. Sometimes you pay more and sometimes less. Usually a good stock of ammo and some odd items. I think they had qty of 200 H&K 308 mags the last time I was there. They also had qty of 7 G20, 10mm mags and loads of ammo for the 10 as well. They usually have Buffaloe Bore ammo in stock. Small shop, but full service. They sell NFA items as well. They have some odd return and consignment policies if I remember correctly, but you would need to verify that.

Long and short is I would shop there if they were closer. Never been ignored or talked down to. I shop somewhere a little closer with people I have come to trust completely, but that's just me.

I ended up there accidentally a few weeks ago; wife and I went to check out a trailer place out that way and stupidly forgot to check if they were open on Saturday... Nope. So now what to do that we had driven all the way out there? Check out the LGS of course!

We were greeted by some dude within about 5 seconds of walking in the door, and he pointed out they had .22 ammo in stock (50 round boxes were $16 I think, or maybe that was for 100 CCI packs but whatever, it was crazy high.) but left us alone after that since I wasn't looking for anything in particular.

Everything I looked at ammo and reloading component wise was very expensive, but they did have things in stock. Looked at a few rifles they had out in racks where you could touch them unattended but otherwise didn't check out gun prices.

Ended up grabbing some primers and a box of 380 (limit 1 per customer) since I saved so much not buying a trailer that day.

I was looking for a birch stock 10/22 last year and they had one new. I bought it over the phone with my credit card since they were scarce at the time. Price was fair. $239 I think. I drove up across the county to get it and things went smooth. This was maybe 9 months ago. Ammo was high, but they had it.

Not my favorite place.
They should have it in stock but you will pay for it and for sure have to work to get someone's attention.
Try Hills, ask for Clinton.

I have had similar experiences to what's outlined above--poor customer service (like they were doing me a favor by selling me something) and high prices.

Not a big fan of Perry's--prefer to spend my money elsewhere.

Not the best prices, but I think its the only gun store in that immediate area. I haven't been there in a couple years, but I liked how they had a bunch of evil black rifles laid out on tables like a gun show.

They used to have really killer day after Christmas sales.
I bought a Winchester 70 in .300WM for ~$250 one year.
My dad bought a new Savage 10 in .300WSM for ~$225 and a Rem 700 BDL in 7mm Mag for about $300 IIRC same year.
Another year I bought an XD40 Service for around $325, and he got a new Beretta 92fs with 3 mags for around $350.
Sadly, those days are long gone it seems.

I bought a 10-22 there a few years back. The place was packed, so I am not faulting them on customer service that day. The guy I delt with was friendly and knowledgeable, and they do have a good selection. If you get on their mailing list they will let you know when they run sales every so often with some pretty good deals.

They are having a big sale on everything Ruger this weekend. 10-22 for $199, for example. I bought some firearms from them over 25 years ago, when I lived near there.

I've bought a number of guns from Barry over the years. Used to have much better prices, especially on used stuff. Not so much anymore, but that seems to be a common issue these days. They do have a good selection though...

the good, the bad, and the ugly:
GOOD: best customer service, every time.
BAD: too far away from me, and nobody's moving.
UGLY: prices since Obama. that's everywhere.
