Yes, there is. It's called the "No Bubba" rule. It states that if you have a nice firearm like a Russian SKS, you should leave it original, and let the mall ninjas ruin their Yugo SKSs with a bunch of useless crap like plastic folding stocks, receiver scope mounts, 20- or 30-round magazines, etc.

The best way to change a $350 Russian SKS to a $275 monstrosity is to "Bubba it up". Plus, you have the added side benefit of spending all those hours, not to mention additional $$$, lowering the value of your rifle.
