As things stand now, we will be going dark on September 3rd. Closing our doors for good. IF a pending deal comes through it may be sooner than that.

If you have anything with us now, I would advise that you come and get it now.

We will not be accepting new transfers at this time either. At this moment, I do not know if we will be open until Sept 3 or not. It could be much sooner than that.

As I know more details, I will inform you all here.

Please pass this around. I don't want any hurt feelings when things end here. I want everyone to remember us as we have been over the last ten years.

Also, please don't flood my inbox with questions. I have no other answers at this point, and will let you all know something when I do.

    Thank you.

Not to get off topic but..... jason is a stand up guy and a knowlegable pawn broker and gun guy. He can also sell anything to anybody anytime. I have seen him in action as i used to work with him part time. Anybody who needs an employee would be wise to pick him up. Many of you know him, and have gotten steals and deals and freebies and good advice from him. Now would be an excellent time to get the karma working in jasons favor. Anybody that has a line on a gig for this guy, lets make it happen. Id like to see him stay in the firearms buisness somewhere in some fashion, he is way to humble to ask so i will for him.

Well folks. The curtain closes and the lights are out. Peters Creek Pawn is now a memory.

Thank you all for everything over the years. I wish there were many more, but it was not to be.

I will try to respond to everyone tonight.

    To answer the burning questions:

Yes, the store is officially closed. All of the inventory has been sold off (pawns and layaways included).

Yes, I am on the unemployed list for now. Don't know where I am going to land just yet, but will keep in touch through the board. I have some feelers out, but one never knows until they know (then there are idiots like me that might know and not know it).

No more transfers. I would recommend Doug and his crew at Altas Armory on Ebert and Clemmonsville Rd. Doug is good people, and so is his crew to be sure.

There is always the potential I will wind up in another pawn shop. Then again, I might even pursue my dream of pole dancing with the Chippendales. Who knows.

Alright, since I know everyone is wondering, Peters Creek Pawn was sold to another store. The company came in yesterday and inventoried the entire store last night. They came back this morning with an offer which was accepted.

Everyone has been hit by this economy, and pawn shops are no exception. Our traffic has been off for a while. It doesn't hurt that at one point there were four pawn shops within a half mile of each other either. One of them (coincidentally, the same one that bought us out) was close enough we could just about read their store hours from our front door.

I really do appreciate the well wishes, and if you can't find me a job, at least keep me and the family in your prayers.

The hardest thing I had to do today was walk out of those doors for the last time. I have spent nearly eleven years behind that counter, and enjoyed nearly every minute of it. I helped build that place. From driving the nails that held the walls up to the very last pawn that was made, I have been there every day with exceptions of days off and the one or two vacations I did take. I have sat behind that counter running fevers and still loving every minute of it.

As the sayings go: The world stops for no man, and life goes on.

I do have one last thing to add before all is said and done. In eleven years, I have worked with some good and decent people, and while Jan (pronounced with a "Y" not a "J") and Don were and are great people, by far the best person I have worked with has to be Maria.

She will probably never read this, and probably will never know this is here, but I can't go on about her enough. If you had the opportunity to meet her, you know what I mean. Her personality is infectious. She has a great sense of humor, but she kind of had to in order to put up with me for as long as she did. I really do wish her the best and hope she lands on her feet. With her character, I have no doubt she will.

And to all of you that have graced our doors, I want to say thank you again. I can't count the hours we have spent holding the counters down while drinking coffee and solving world problems.

I really hate to hear this Jason...
I hope you land on your feet, sooner rather than later.
If I hear of anything open round these parts, I'll let you know.
I'm going to miss holding down the counter with you.

I can't say I know Jason well but when I was first getting into guns he was very good to me. The opposite of the nightmare gun store guys I feared then. He shared information and enthusiasm. He invited me to matches PHA. When I ran into him at Calibers he let me shoot a magazine through his 1911 even though I only knew him from one visit to the shop. I will remember fondly the one yun I bought there way back when.

Good luck to you and thanks.

Jason, so sorry to hear the news. I enjoyed talking with you in your shop. When I was first starting out a few years ago, you gave me some really good advice about buying guns. I hope your job situation works out for the better. Good luck!
