Anyone had problems with their Lee Turret press primer s hanging on the case holder as you index the press? I did with my new press. I came up with an easy fix. I cut a small piece of 1/8" aluminum stock about 3/16" X 3/8" and stuck it to the edge of the press with some thick 2 sided tape. Now, the primer arm turns in quicker and misses the case holder without fail.

Sorry, I didn't think to take pictures but you should be able to do it with my description. If not, let me know and I will take a picture.

I had this same exact problem and thought about doing the same thing, but the next time I used the press I forgot about the problem and it ran fine without catching on the shell holder. I didn't think about it until you just mentioned it. I will have to check next time I press some ammunition out.

Is your press new? Mine was when it was catching

just read this on another forum as a fix:

I had the same problem with mine. I sent Lee an e-mail, they sent me back the fix. Yout ram is simply out of alignment. Take a 1/4 " allen wrench (a "L" shaped one) Remove the shell holder and priming arm. Note that the slot your primer arm just came out of should be in the center of the two raised areas on the base of the press. Insert the allen wrench in the slot and turn it so the slot is centered. You probablly won't have to move the ram very much. Put the arm and shell holder back in and try it. You might have to tweak it a couple times to get it right, but it will fix the problem. One more helpful hint, if you take the top off the ram before you start (un screwing it) put a couple drops of Loc-tite on the threads and put it back together. This will keep it from happening again
Also, make sure there are no burrs on the slot edges in the portion of the ram where the primer arm slides through. clean those edges up.

Here are pictures. You can clearly see that the ram is lined up with the two little tits on the casting. Adding the piece of aluminum lifts the primer arm earlier in the stroke and you can also see how significantly it clears the case holder.

I gonna have to try this.

I got so fed up with it that I now use the Lee Ram Prime. It takes a good bit longer but oh well.

Thanks for the help.

The Ram Prime is a good tool. I've only had my automatic primer installed for a week, but I quickly learned a couple of tricks. Mine was sticking at the top of the ram stroke, then falling out on the downstroke. First, I thoroughly cleaned the groove in the ram and the area around the shell holder, especially the inside. I actually stuck a small polishing wheel in there and slicked it up a little. I used a piece of 400 grit sandpaper in a piece of glass to sand the sides of the primer arm, making them very smooth and removing any tiny burrs. I used a squirt of WD40 on my fingertip to wipe the sides of the primer arm. Now, I don't have any problems with it. It falls easily to the bottom of the ram groove. This may not solve someone's particular problem, but it worked for me.

Pretty much what I found out this morning with mine. After doing this it works like butter now. The first pic you can see the burrs. I used some sandpaper to knock it down then polished with a qtip and flitz. I also polished the entire ram arm with flitz. The second pic you can see the results. Press works perfect now!
