Cops Kill Man In Wal-Mart Carrying An Air Rifle That He Might Have Planned To Buy

A man who was carrying an air rifle in an Ohio Wal-Mart told the police officers that fatally shot him that the gun was "not real," according to a family member.

John Crawford was shot by police Tuesday evening at a Beavercreek store. The Ohio attorney general's office announced Thursday that he was merely carrying a brand of air rifle that Wal-Mart sells.

Daily caller works like crap on my phone, but I read another piece that says he was walking around the store pointing it at people, therefore I'll point my finger at the idiot that got shot...he created the circumstances that were ultimately his undoing.

Cops receive MWG call they gotta respond. I'm pointing my finger at the dumbass who called 911 from the toy aisle. There really should be criminal charges for doing something that stupid and reckless.
This is exactly what Everytown For Gun Control wants - people to dial 911 anytime they see a gun not in the possession of the state.

conflicting stories on this one, I saw another report that he was talking to his GF on the phone and was overheard yelling "it isn't real" before he was shot. If he was indeed "Swatted" by one of the anti-types, this is going to change the game a lot.

If he was running around pointing it at people, he got what he deserved.

Regardless, we're gonna need to see the video on this one:

"LeeCee Johnson, who has claimed to be the mother of Mr Crawford's two children, said she was speaking to him on the telephone when police descended on the scene.

Dayton Daily News report her as saying: 'We was just talking. He said he was at the video games playing videos and he went over there by the toy section where the toy guns were.

'And the next thing I know, he said "It's not real," and the police start shooting and they said "Get on the ground," but he was already on the ground because they had shot him.'

'And I could hear him just crying and screaming. I feel like they shot him down like he was not even human.'

This crap needs to end ....
I'm as critical of stupid crap as the next guy. But if he was pointing it at people it meets my criteria of. "Could I have shot this guy in self defense." He points that air gun at me and acts like its a real gun, that qualifies as assault with a deadly weapon and I'm justified in defending myself with deadly force.

Guy was 22. Should have know better. Some times stupidity is painful, sometimes it's lethal.

I agree completely I also find it funny that there was a thread not three days ago about a security guard shooting a guy for pulling a BB gun but it was titled "who says you can't fix stupid". Where was the uproar with that shooting?

I definitely should have read more before commenting. The original story spun this and I bought it. Lots of conflicting info to be found on this one but that looks real enough. If he removed the packaging and went around the store drawing a bead on people with it... effing moron.
