Hello Carolina shooters
I'm located in the Charlotte university area, having a hard time finding an public outdoor rifle range where I can shoot steel cased ammo.
I don't mind joining for an annual fee but don't really want pay the huge initiation fees.
25-50 yards be plenty for me, preferably 30 minutes to an hour drive.

So far Long Creek Rifle and Pistol Club in Mount Holly seem to fit the bill but can't find any information on whether they are still open for business, hours or any contact information.

Thanks in advance

Seems like Efirds in Albermale (Public), Take Aim in Training in Pageland SC ($150/year) and Riverside in Ritchfield ($144+50) are the only viable options as far as I could find online, all about 1 hour away.
Anyone have any current information on Efirds or Long Creek Rifle and Pistol Club in Mount Holly?

Iredell county FOP range, right off exit 45 of I77. Pistol and rifle for 100 per year and 10 key and 10 buck new member if I recall correctly. Meeting is first Tuesday of every month to sign up. Google Statesville FOP lodge 10.

I was in University, not far now, and was in the same boat. Basically you have the SC DNR ranges about 1.5hr away and Uwharrie (when it re-opens) about 45min away. You already noted the low-cost-to-join clubs. I settled on PHA, a little more to join but well worth it, great facilities & 50min away.

The immediate Charlotte area is definitely lacking quality outdoor facilities, especially low cost ones.

The Charlotte area has two outdoor ranges - Charlotte Rifle and Pistol in Pineville and Wildlife Club of I85, but both are MembersOnly facilities. The Gaston Country range is located at Rankin Lake and is open limited hours but is public.
