Right know it looks like I have it down to Daniel Defense, Bravo Company, or Barnes Precision. Looking for advice or any experiences you guys have had with these brands. I'm also open to other suggestions. Thanks

This thread will end with tons of opinions, some flameouts, a few Bushmaster disciples and a confused seanzd. :36:

My $.02, Spike's Tactical ST-15 in either carbine, mid or rifle length (your preference). I've a carbine and can plink, compete or go straight to combat with it. Full mil-spec and a brand preferred by many LEO's, military personnel (well at least the majority of pro's I know) as their go to AR. It took me months to settle on one as I was thinking PSA, DMMS, Bravo, but after debriefing a few pros I went with the Spike's. Happy shopping...

In addition to the choices you have already mentioned, my go to provider has been Del-ton out of Elizabethtown.

You won't go wrong with any of those three. Tell us how you plan to use it, and we can tell you what options to look for. Then find which ones have rifles that will fit your needs, and buy the one that fits your budget and tickles your fancy.

My standard recommendation, if you don't know exactly what you want, is to look for something with a collapsible stock, flat top upper, midlength 16" barrel (lighter is better), and a freefloat handguard that's not a boat anchor. The Troy TRX Extreme is my current favorite, although I've been told Barnes is making one similar. Other people prefer different configurations.

I have a new BPM upper I'm selling at a discount since I don't need it. Pin it to a new BPM lower and you'll have a very nice AR!

You put this up for sale right after I purchased mine. I see how it is.... :)

To the OP. I have no experience with the other brands and just purchased my first AR. I went with the Barnes Precision.

It is manufactured locally. I could not find a bad review or even an issue with anyone who owned one. I spoke with Andrew the CEO of BPM and he chatted me up for about 30 minutes. I was sold at that point.

I originally had nearly the same list as you. I put about 200 rounds down range for the first time on Saturday and couldn't be happier. When siting in the "iron" sites at 50 yards my three shot groups were a little larger than a quarter consistently.

I'm going with the Barnes myself. I have not read a single negative comment and lots of praise for their product. Got to handle one the other week at Peters Creek Pawn in Winston and I was very impressed. I also like that they are a local company.

Another option might be a Colt 6920, they can be found for a little over $1,000.

Any one of those would be a great choice if it fits your intended use. You may also want to consider a Colt 6920. I bought one and haven't looked back.

Yeah intended roles and budget are huge drivers in the decision. The Colt is an excellent choice...hard to beat. I tend to lean a different way since I like and prefer a few upgrades like longer free float handguards, middy gas, and upgraded furniture.

You're going to get a lot of good opinions. Each option is a good one for the right application - frankly there are lots of "good" options.

I'd personally add the S&W M&P lineup to the mix. For just over $600 to get started, I got an outstanding AR that has nearly 3000 rounds through it now without a single hiccup...
