Marine Stabbed by Suspected Shoplifter

November 27, 2010
Associated Press
AUGUSTA, Ga. - A U.S. Marine reservist collecting toys for children was stabbed when he helped stop a suspected shoplifter in eastern Georgia.
Best Buy sales manager Orvin Smith told The Augusta Chronicle that man was seen on surveillance cameras Friday putting a laptop under his jacket at the Augusta store.
When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, pulled a knife and ran toward the door. Outside were four Marines c ollecting toys for the service branch's "Toys For Tots" program.
Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back. The cut did not appear to be severe.
The suspect was transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken leg, possible broken ribs, assorted lacerations and bruises he obtained when he fell trying to run after stabbing the Marine.
The suspect, whose name was not released, was held until police arrived. The Richmond County Sheriff's office said it is investigating.

Yeah, if the news is going to "slant" articles a certain way, I much prefer the humorous. Especially being a jarhead myself, I can easily see that explanation from a group of marines.

In fact, I'm sure it was used several times during my career. Also the good old "training accident" was a fine dodge for explaining black eyes and swollen lips.

The injuries to the suspect were never released by any news agency.

They are added to make the story less "aww, poor Marine" and more "hell yeah, that's what you get, sucka!"

They are 100% fabricated bullshi'ite.

Incidentally, how many correctional officers does it take to push an inmate down the stairs while in full restraints?

He fell. End of statement.

Change it to "Navy Legs" or "Aquatic Infantry" or "Waterborne Pathogen"

Touche, the acronyms aren't new but I can honestly say I've never heard "Navy legs", and is it wrong that I actually see Waterborne Pathogen as a compliment?

:79: --That ones ours too my friend, just saying :thumbup1: . Well ours and one Corpsman, but a Corpsman in a combat MOS is a Marine that accidentally walked into the wrong recruiting office.

I made up those psuedonyms on the spot but had to Google for the acronyms.

I actually do think "waterborne pathogen" is pretty neat and apt, too. :thumbup1:
Now that you've released it to the internet I give it a week before LA Police Gear makes it a patch.

And then I'll sell it, as intellectual property, to RightHaven and then this forum and LAPG will be sued into oblivion!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!
At least wait until I get one of their "lead farmer" patches first. Not for any particular purpose, just because every time I see it I laugh.
