Highlights, link for complete story below
Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property.

Can you imagine the message this sends to ISIS and all the enemies of America? We are going to end his career and court-martial a man who drew his sidearm to protect his command, and the assigned Sailors and Marines.

Here we have a known deserte,r Bowe Bergdahl, out getting picked up smoking marijuana, or at a house growing marijuana. According to Susan Rice, he served with honor and distinction. The real men of honor such as Army 1LT Clint Lorance, and now it seems Lt. Cmdr White, are forced into jail.

If this is true then it is a very sad flipping day. When a man or women serving in our military defends his brothers in arms by any means necessary and then gets charged for it because it wasn't a military issued weapon is a sad day in deed. I hope this is all a dog and pony show and just to make sure its known they don't like it when you do it.

Agreed. Problem is, the way things have gone this kind of story is too plausible to ignore. My suspicion is that someone was actually considering bringing up charges but when West blew the whistle on them it got dropped, swept under the rug and denied. Fits the MO, that's for sure.

Officer who fired at Chattanooga shooter could face charges

Navy considering charges against Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White for exchanging fire with the Chattanooga shooter
Navy Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White has confirmed that he opened fire on the Muslim terrorist* who killed four Marines and a sailor in attacks on two military facilities in Chattanooga, TN, on July 16.
White and one of the Marines killed in the assault opened fire on the terrorist with their personal handguns. It has not yet been released whether or not White and the Marine fired shots that hit the terrorist.

As the commanding officer at the facility, White would appear to have the authority under Department of Defense regulations to allow men under his command to be armed, but that has not been confirmed, and it seems doubtful that personal weapons would be authorized even if he did have the authority to have weapons on-site. While he likely saved lives, Lt. Cmdr. White runs the distinct risk of a court martial for daring to violate a dangerously outdated policy.

The national conversation on arming on-duty personnel seems to be falling on deaf ears in the Pentagon, which fears that allowing troops to carry personal weapons on base is a security risk. They fear such a policy will increase the likelihood of on-base attacks by members of the military, like both of the Fort Hood shootings, which were carried out by uniformed soldiers illegally armed with their private weapons.

Save your anger for when/if they actually do bring up charges. Anything else is conjecture at best.
