I noticed a lot of people at the local show this weekend didn't even know about the pistol permit system. I encounter at least 2-3 people trying to buy pistols and being turned down because they didn't have a pistol permit. Some we're upset and didn't know why NC does the whole pistol permit thing when the have FBI NICS system.

This was one reason why I got involved with the GRNC group. NRA is a good long time fighter for nationwide 2A but GRNC is about the crappy NC laws. While we need the nationwide fight to continue, I am more immediately affected by the laws like the NC permit system, the restaurant carry laws, and others specific to our state which I have physically seen GRNC staff members in the capital hitting up our reps for.

People are generally very surprised (like I was) when they get to know our laws. One thing I DO take a lot of comfort in, being a former NYS resident, how many of the 2A rights I get being a NC resident that NY residents do not have.
