The mental check cost is for the concealed permit. I was curious because a friend of mine said the Lincoln County sheriff's office told them is was $10 cash for each purchase permit. I think someone is looking to make a little cash on the side.

Columbus County charges a convenience fee for online applications.

Nope, 5 bucks plus a convenience fee if going online.

Well then you could always do it the legal way and just walk up to the county office. That's the only way Forsyth accepts applications. In person only, and I think there's nothing wrong with that.

It's been several years since I got a permit here in Forsyth County, but they were charging a NOTARY FEE when getting a permit. Why would an officer or clerk, receiving the forms and documents need to NOTARIZE them -- as he can verify their legitimacy when taking them. It seemed like a cheesy way to get extra fees. I suspect they still do that with CHP renewals; I'll find out next year...

They can't stop you from going to your own Notary, I do.
