This was an interesting read in response to my initial question. Cabelas does not have a store close to Charlotte in NC and the local gun shop wanted $75 to handle the FFL transfer. That negated the value of the discounted deal so I passed.

I am thinking that someone told me a while back that Cabelas near Charlotte (but in SC) had an agreement with a close by NC FFL to do inexpensive transfers.
