Myself, this time I opted for the laptop, rather than another desktop or tower unit. I chose the Lenovo ThinkPad (formerly IBM). I had used the ThinkPads for over 7 years at my job and we really put them through the paces and drag them around all over, and they hold up pretty well. If you look at ThinkPad reviews, customer satisfaction is usually pretty high.
So, decided to get one for myself and chose the ThinkPad T410 model, upgrading the RAM from standard 2-gigabyte to 3-gigabyte and chose the higher model that had the NVIDIA graphics card. Other than that it was the standard model and came with Windows 7 and I paid a little extra to get Microsoft Office Professional. It was a better deal to buy MS Office at the time of getting the new computer than buying it separately later.
Only regret I have is I'm wishing I should have had them up the RAM to 4-gigabyte, but will likely add another gig myself soon.
Regards,
MD
