I just heard of this thing the other day, don't know how I missed it while reading over SHOT show coverage. 9mm, 8" forged barrel, retractable and folding removable stock, polymer build, 20 & 30rd translucent mags, full ambi controls; This thing seems like the MP5 of the 21st century and I want one!!!

It is only available in the US in select fire, and therefor LE/Mil only. Europe has a semi version(pictured) which is civilian legal there. I suspect, and pray, that CZ will soon release a civilian non-NFA model. It seems it would be pretty easy to give it a 16" barrel with faux suppressor sleeve. It'll be the perfect SBR candidate, and if I'm able to get one I'll have to get a suppressor for it as well.

So am I the only one who has never heard of this puppy?

Update 11/24/14:
Thanks SilencingMahcine
Finally, 2.5yr later they release a pistol version AND a sig brace adapter! I still like the idea of SBR'ing it but I can cross that bridge later. MSRP only $849, roughly $1k below what I expected, leaving plenty of room to grab a can :)

Ok well I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I agree GSR it definitely needs the 8"bbl and a can. I emailed CZ so we'll see if they shed any light on the subject.

As for cost, the European version is the equivalent of $1700usd by things are often more expensive over there. For example a G17 is $700.

I've wanted something similar to this or an MP5 for quite a while. The long barrel in a handgun caliber just kills it for me though..... I just don't get...... I can get a handgun with 20+ round magazines but for something like this (in a handgun caliber) you have to go through some hoops to get it with less than a 16" barrel.

I saw some coverage of this from MAC on youtube... very sweet sub gun! Agreed that it would be a great SBR candidate if they brought it stateside, but if you look at what it takes for HK to import a UMP variant as a USC I don't think it would be as simple as importing it with a 16" barrel. Then you need to go through the 922r compliancy BS. Oh well.

I got a response from CZ this morning. Very quick response!

We are working on a civilian version, but estimates I've heard put it at 2017 before we could release it. Most likely it will be a 16" version with a little longer forend.

The .22 version we haven't talked much about, we'll have to bounce that idea around.

Thanks!

Thankfully it's a little different for CZ than for HK. CZ can simply produce it under the CZ-USA brand in the US and they don't have to worry about 922r or import laws.

10 months have gone by since I contacted CZ so I decided to follow up to see if there were any new developments. Nothing definitive but we're moving in the right direction! The fact that they're actively working to get this thing into the US market gets me excited!

Jerz,

Nothing concrete that I can tell you, but we are exploring options with the ATF at the moment about importing some sooner. If that is able to go forward, we'll make it known.

Thanks!
