Bump for info?

I can't find a thing about the progress on this range.

Anyone in the Shelby area know what's going on?
Ground breaking was on the 6th. Not sure when it will be ready.

250 Fielding Raod, between Waco and Shelby on 150.

I was back home (Shelby ) about a month and a half ago, M a my brother rode over to there! Lots of equipment on site. looks like its going to be one hell of a range. When I'm back home if they are open for business yall come on up we will put some lead down range!

Yes they are going to have a master range officer, And he will have Police powers They are asking candidates to have a associate degree in Criminal justice! Same as a Police officer!
I know because I was going to summit an application, But I don't have the degree, and they are looking for retired police or retired military!
Don't know about the fees though.
Just hope it doesn't wind -up like the SCDNR range here near me in South Carolina, I didn't se it but guys I know saw it when it was first completed and hey said it was a very nice range ,covered firing line and all, had a 200yrd berm! The one and only time I went up there I would not stay an shoot, The range looked like s**t all the covering over the firing line was shot full of holes ,the range itself was litered with trash, everything from computer monitors to refrigerators. and that day it looked like a gang reunion

Awesome! Only 43 minutes (35 miles) away. Now, Shooters Express is about 10 minutes away and Blackstone is about 30 minutes away, but I would drive the 35 miles to be able to shoot outside and shoot at more that 25 yards. I hope this opens soon.

I had a trip to Cherryville yesterday and swung by the range to see what was going on. Looks like construction is about 80%. Most of the mass earthwork is done, but still lots of cleanup/finish grading. Some areas, like the phase 1 rifle and pistol range, appear essentially complete. Grading's done, firing line done, and seeded with nice grass. There's still work to do on the phase 2 pistol ranges and the shotgun fields. Some of the roads are graveled, some not, no paving yet. I didn't see anybody I knew, but talked to a couple of guys doing some trim work on the buildings. They said from what they knew, opening was planned in the spring, maybe Mar or Apr. From what I saw, that looks very possible.

It's going to be a very nice facility.

update on Master range officer! As of yesterday They have not hired anyone to fill the position. My brother knows the lady who handles the applications for the job. She said that no,hires have been made yet. So I would say that they have to have the position filled before they open!

I know the range is open, I have already been to it, I'm asking is the rifle range open yet !
I would be raising hell too. Just think of having rounds come over your house. They know the problem is rounds skipping off the ground when people shot at 100 an shorter yardage.
I cant understand why they cant put berms at the 100 yd. and other yardage spots !
If you are going to only be shooting at 100yards,then get on the 100yard range not the 250 and set up a target at 100 yards.

Yea, goes to show you what great minds are in charge in Cleveland county. Since I moved away, every time ,That I go back to visit my dad and brother , I recognize the place less and less. The last time I was there uptown Shelby was all but dead! And Hwy 74 from Burger King back to Ingles is becoming a ghost town!
