New Training Course at PBR-Matthews

Point Blank Range's Defensive Handgun Core Foundation Series is a designed for the new shooter who wants to learn how to run their defensive handgun efficiently and effectively. It will build your core foundation of handgun skills with critical elements that every shooter needs to know.
We've taken essentially what is a Full Day of Training and broke it down into easily digested bite sized chunks. Overall Course of Fire will be approximately 300 rounds.
This Class must be taken in proper order. One part per Night. Each Part is $75.

Part 1, First Night:

Range Safety Briefing
4 Universal Rules of Firearms Safety
Grip and Stance
How to Grip your Pistol
Shooting Stances: Weaver, Isosceles, Chapman
Loading and Reloading
Administrative Loading
Speed Reloading
Tactical Reloading
When to do each and why, and Press Checking
Malfunction Clearing
Failure to Feed
Double Feed
Failure to Eject
Stove Pipe
Use of Dummy Rounds
The Draw
Drawing your weapon
Getting on Target
Reholstering smoothly and safely
Basic Handgun Accuracy Fundamentals
Trigger Control
Grip (again)
Breath Control
Sight Alignment
Sight Picture
Trigger Reset

Must be at least 21 years of age to take this class.

Required equipment:

  • 300 rounds of ammunition
  • Your personal defensive center-fire handgun
  • Eye & Ear Protection
  • Holster designed to be located on the belt, outside of the waistband
  • One spare magazine at minimum
  • Magazine pouch
