No law has been altered...there is just more to it than that. LEOs are responsible for answering and responding to calls for service much like a plumber (not comparing the two, just illustrating). When a plumber gets a call to come fix a leaky faucet, he/she responds and first observes the situation to find out what the problem is. If there is no problem, then no action need be taken. The same goes for LEO. When the police are called, they will respond and determine exactly what the problem is and act accordingly. As previously mentioned, NC is OC where firearms are legally permitted. Do I think it is always a good Idea? Not always (again, not legal advise). Imagine yourself walking into any place with a large group of people with your OC on your belt. Before you know it soccer moms are yelling for their kids and running out of the store. You hear the all familiar "security scan in sector 5" over the loud speaker and security officers following you around like you are stealing a diamond ring. Then before you know it 5 LEOs are coming at you because a soccer mom called 911 and said there is a stange man with a gun in the store. They dont know why you have a gun, but they will find out. Those are the questions I was refering to. The answer does not always rest on your shoulders, because that soccer mom has no way of knowing why you have a gun. Neither do the LEOs. Those questions, imho, are questions I would rather not have to answer. Thus when I carry my weapon off-duty, which is always, it is concealed. Not argueing or telling anybody off, just food for thought.
