Does anyone know of an outdoor rifle range close to Charlotte NC? I have been to Eifords and Uwharrie but curious if there are others, and if they are closer. Thanks!

It's been a pretty good while since I've been there, so I'm not sure how much has changed, but there is a range in Gastonia, it's the city Police range. They open it on Saturdays and you can shoot handguns in the morning and rifles in the afternoon. It was $10 last time I was there (about 6 years ago). 100 yards is the longest you can shoot, they have RO's there and they are very strict on safety. No steel core ammo, they check with a magnet. You get a "membership card" first time you go, it just says you're okay to shoot the next time you show up. If you like shotgunning, there is a public skeet/trap range on the road into the rifle range. The range is just off exit 17 of I-85, going north on US321.

Haven't been to Hyatts range as of yet and it's a long drive from Charlotte. Been to their shop a lot, though.
There is also a private/membership one in Waxhaw right at the NC/SC border. You have to join, pay and volunteer your time.
I was also thinking about outdoor, since I'd like to see what my .22 rifle could do at longer distances than my indoor ranges can provide.

CRPC USED to be a great range, shot many a high power and steel plate match there. But they became so woke, they canceled everything. Supposedly they were afraid of a round going over the berm, that and a bunch of other crap. One of the officers of the club posted a video of me all over the web clearing a stuck case in my AR using the pogo method, commenting how unsafe it was. Nothing unsafe about it, they probably teach that in the military. And complained about my vehicle kicking up dust, I almost slapped the awesole :(

I've wanted to do this near Hillsborough. It's just a hard commodity these days. I'd love to find a small corner of property in Orange county to setup a small steel range where I could throw clays occasionally. I can't stand indoor ranges.

I went to foothills but it was a drive from charlotte where I'm at, like well over an hour to get there. All that to shoot some 22s was ridiculous and the Range officer wanted to leave one day when I showed up so I couldn't shoot. This is why I was looking to get rid of my 22s , but I have to post more I guess so I can get that privilege, so here it is.
