But lots of people love 1911's. But yes, there are so many different variants and manufacturers, just like AR's.
I don't like the big lettering on the side but some people may. I would venture to assume it is made by another company but rebranded as PSA. Maybe a Para in disguise?

There was a 1911 in that link?
All I saw were the booth models;hubba
Look directly left of the boobs.

My first thought was that it may be another armscor rebrand. I hope not. If it's a armscor frame, I'd rather just have a rock island. I know it's a solid performer (and now an IDPA BUG championship title holder) for under $500.

On the plus side of $500, it's going to need to be really special to follow me home with Colt and springfield turning out products based on consumer input (range officer in 9 & 45, Talo Concealed Carry Government, Talo Wiley Clapp).

PSA doesn't make anything though, they just assemble parts other companies make for them. This will probably be a RIA or something along those lines, with PSA roll marks, I bet.

The blonde works at the Columbia store on Fernandina, haven't seen the other one before.

Maybe, depends on how it looks in person, not a fan of the billboard logo so far. I'd like to see them come out with a fitted frame/slide combo in the $300-400 range for people to start building 1911s like ar's from parts. More interested in them releasing a 308 lower than this actually.

You know just a thought, but being that everyone has a 1911 now and they all for the most part have the billboard on the side......

I would run away from PSA but one thing that would make me slow down and look or think a little more....

WHY the F has no one really done a close copy of a WW1 USGI 1911, and then a WWII USGI 1911A1 ?

I see some high $$ limited runs but when Ithica was talking about bringing back a 1911 I talked to them about it and they were thinking hard.

You have Colt, Remington, Ithica, and all the others that may be able to get the naming to make a USGI copy of those guns and not the upgraded guns that are sold now.

I bet if they hit the market in the 5-6-700$ range for a normal GI gun it would sell fast....
That being said you know colt would be more, but who knows.
Just about everyone has a 1911 with all the crap, and why not market something different....

he's always been there, it suites his personality perfectly.
and that SilverBullet432 posting over there in that thread is not me! Just want to point that out!

There's only one real Silver_Bullet and he always goes by Silver_Bullet or Silver_Bullet_00 ;)

and there are even some Silver_Bullet 's on other forums that are not this Silver_Bullet.

Do I make myself clear?

If you don't see an RP quote in the sig line, it's not me.

Why would anyone buy a PSA gun? If it doesn't work right, good luck on getting help from PSA with it. I guess if you can work on it yourself, maybe. Chances are it will be cheap and work. But if you do encounter problems, don't expect any customer support to help you. That's their MO anyways.

Do you mean you think the pistol itself will be cheap? I'm curious to see some specs on it, but if the SHOT show conversation on the other forum is correct, it won't be bargain basement cheap. If the rumor about nowlin barrels being used for it, it's probably going to be priced near the sr1911 at the very least. Nowlins makes quality product that isn't cheap. Looking at the machining on the frame (trigger guard undercut, front strap serrations), those models are likely to be priced on up with colts in the $1k range. Unless of course they're sourcing some ridiculously inexpensive frames from somewhere in South America. But that would be silly, too. If you're going to fit a high quality barrel, it would be crazy to use frames that may have questionable specs. Rock island/armscor are terrific guns that will last a long time...but you don't see anyone using them as a base for a high end build. That's why caspian exists, guaranteed spec'd to the design. The RIA is spec'd to itself. :).

Of course I'm not knocking RIA. I'm going to get an officer model one of thes days. But I'm not going to fool myself into thinking I'll have a caspian slide and nowlins barrel fitted to it one day. :)

Still, even if this thing ends up being a high value featured gun (nowlin barrel, serrated frame, undercut trigger, nice sights) and they keep the price down to entry level colt prices...I'm still not going to buy it unless I move to SC. :). Get that giant PSA logo off and slap on the date of the Halifax resolves for an nc edition...then I might consider it!

Of course the rumor could be wrong and I could have misunderstood you saying the pistol may be cheap.

If they would concentrator on their core customer (AR-15 DIYers) and quit trying to be another rollstamp sweatshop, they would probably be a bit more successful. I've only bought ammo from them due to the stupid turnaround times.

Who wants another 1911 with a huge rollstamp at any price? RIA got it right by making theirs small, and with their high-end guns prices competing with Kimber and Colt, it'll be a flop.

$1000-1500.....ill just stick with ruger or colt
I agree. I just found myself in the market for a $1k 1911.

For those kinda dollars you can call me shallow, but I'm going to be stuck with a roll mark. That's not chump change for me so I want my roll mark to at least be good looking and say colt, Springfield or Dan Wesson or the like.

Speaking if Dan Wesson, PSA should have taken notes. We know Dan Wesson makes awesom 1911s. PSA knows it. Dan Wesson knows it. Everyone does. But DW stays classy and keeps the roll mark small. As huge as the PAA logo is, they can't make a commander without hacking off letters!

Could be worse, I think Desert Eagle holds the title for "Most ginormous Logo Ever" :)

Wow,

What a risky undertaking.

A 1911, very boring.

John
Tee-hee…glad you said what I have thought for a long time.

I do believe that the 1911 design is a work of art. It is truly one of the most beautiful and functional handgun designs of all time. But keep in mind, these things were designed when a 6 shot revolver was the "cat's meow".

Today….not so much.

As John said, "very boring" and I agree with that assessment.
