I remember when people first started getting online as well as the advent of social media. It is amazing how far it reaches into our lives.

My dad was not happy with computers because he maintained that they took jobs. He also didn't want his bank account on a computer. Well, that didn't get him very far. Had a heckavu time explaining it though... LOL

Kinda scary when one of the people that sold out to the Canadian Anti-2A company is telling us our privacy is only an illusion... o_O

Especially one who "espoused" certain liberty-focused character traits.

But nothing to worry about right, it was only a movie. Information from this site could never be compromised, right? I mean if it wasn't secure surely we would be able to delete all of our personal content.

This could get interesting today with the new site down for upgrades. Maybe TNFC, Thursday Night Fight Club? Although there will probably be a lot of Canadian censorship thrown in.

You know what is REALLY scary? It is when people you thought you could trust sell a data mine loaded with all kinds of data - which could be lethal in the right political environment - to parties which are either 1.unconcerned about anything other than the bottom line or are 2.positively hostile to the people about whom that data is concerned.

That scares me more than any Jason Bourne shenanigans

    Sound like anyone you know?

Of course..... what would be even more terrifying would be if the new possessor of that data mine refused to let anyone tamper with it out of sheer avarice and fear of loss of revenue if the "owners" of that data were concerned. That would be so awful that not even Alfred Hitchcock would touch a topic so soul-less. That could never happen.

I'm sure Torstar (ultimate parent of Second Media, CSC's new owner, for those who haven't heard since the announcement thread was locked down within a day. Thread locking of discussions concerning new ownership is the new normal on this forum, and this thread will also be sent to a digital grave.) will appreciate the one day bump in traffic due to the new locally owned by pro-2A owners (which Torstar is most assuredly not - the leftist Toronto Star is their newspaper) forum upgrade.

Maybe the old saying about no such thing as bad publicity goes for internet traffic as well.
