Our "neighborhood watch" (email list) forwarded out this notice:

A lot of neighbors have been interested in the re-opening of the gun range up by Tractor Supply, under new ownership.

The new website is http://proshotsrange.com/

This is a very fine man I know from church, and he is a retired police officer. He will be teaching classes, etc....for women, etc.!
Is this anyone from here? IIRC, o2l & Graywolf were both involved under the previous management...

o2l and Graywolf

o2l (John) and Graywolf (Pati) were not hired back. The financier, Ted Budd of tedbudd.com, advised me by email that they had their team in place. The owner of record, Lonnie Ashby, is a Concealed Carry - Handgun Instructor so there is no need for o2l. I don't understand why they wouldn't even consider Graywolf, unless they have black listed all former employees of Triad Gun Source. If enough of her friends ask about her, maybe they will reconsider. The folks at Calibers treat us well and since our membership doesn't expire there until March 2011 that's where you will probably find us. Pati misses you all.

The range reopened on Wednesday, September 1st. The archery shop is there, and Edwin and Lonnie are working to stock the gun side of the business along with installing computer systems, learning to operate same, etc. They haven't received their FFL yet, but expect it soon. In any case, the range is open and they've had several shooters already this week. When I was by there this evening they mentioned that they had sold many memberships already and that the response to the new ownership has been overwhelmingly positive.

ProShots

I stopped by and got my membership this afternoon. My husband and I will probably go shoot there on Saturday. It will be good to get back in a practice groove. BTW, I mentioned o2l and Greywolf while I was there. I asked if there would be a "ladies night" or female specific events. They didn't give me a straight answer, but talked about possibilities for the future. I'll post again after Saturday's shooting session.

I just got a flyer in the mail today about ProShots. I am really looking forward to going out there! Unfortunately I'll be moving to Charlotte in the next few months, so I don't think it will be worthwhile to get a membership. It's a shame that I won't be able to use them as much as I'm sure I would like to. I was hoping Graywolf and o2l would be brought back, but who knows, maybe they can make cameos due to popular demand?

It is farther for me to drive from High Point to go out to Rural Hall, but I enjoy the range much better than Calibers. I don't know if I just pick the worst days to show up, but ever since my Calibers membership expired several years ago, all of the guys behind the counter seem to have had some sort of attitude problem. I just go in and pay the hourly range rate, begrudgingly. The gray-haired gentleman who is always there ( I think he's the manager/owner?)... I'm pretty lighthearted about most stuff, but I do not like his "sense of humor," if that's what you want to call it. I'm looking forward to never having to go to Calibers again.

I stopped in today since I was getting some Chinese food next door.:w00t:

The clerks were friendly & said something along the lines of "it's $15 for an all day pass to the range & if you decide to get a membership, that $15 goes toward it automaticly".

They had some shirts, LOTS of ammo & accessories. No guns though.

I thought of asking about a job, but if I was them, I'd prefer to spend any cash I had towards getting more product in.:frown:

That was one of the things I hated about TGS when they were there. For a long time after they opened, they had maybe 2 guns & that was it.:glare:

And yes, the archery people were still there.

Encouraging

Graywolf and I rode our motorcycles down to the range yesterday. Sorry we missed you, OmegaMan. Lonnie and Ted took time out of a busy day to talk to us and we left with a sense of optimism.

Graywolf and I helped open triad Gun Source in July 2007 and we had a lot of sweat equity in that place. We did what we could to to make it work and we wish the management teams had been more responsive to suggestions. We hope that those who know us realize that we were definitely not part of management, although Graywolf was placed in the position of Assistant Manager (without pay or title) whenever the kids decided to go to the beach for a long weekend. To those who "have a bone to pick" with the previous managers, I ask that you don't tar Graywolf and me with the same brush.

Lonnie and Ted are still "shaking the bugs out" because they decided to open before the plaster dust had been swept up. I hope they make a go of it. Good things could really happen there. The membership prices are competitive and OmegaMan was right about the $15 one-day pass being applied towards a membership.

When our membership at Calibers runs out, we will no doubt scrape up the price of a membership.

Went by Proshots today for the first time. People were very friendly and helpful. Gave me some information and prices on membership. As someone else said, they are still in the middle of getting things together but are letting people use the range. I was there about an hour. Will definitely go back and will probably get a membership where my wife and I can go shoot some. Hope that they do well. It is really convenient for me as I live about 6 miles away and would definitely up my shooting time. Good luck to them!

I agree about the gray hair man. He's a prick. The other two are pretty cool though.

Yea, the older gray haired guy is the owner. His son, Kenny, is one of the other guys that works there. The taller young guy. He's pretty cool to talk to. The other one, I think his name is Manny? (something like that) He's the one that seems like the prick to me. I asked him about Manny, and he said that he's practically family to them. They're from New York,so that may be were the "attitude" comes across from. They've got a nice Corvette's sitting outside though:tongue_smilie:
