something just doesn't sit right with "case opened & gun discharged"
I am. my uncle is a vendor and I'm going to go hang out with him for a bit.
I definitely won't. With that many people, the odds are high that some dumb ass would have a ND. I'm not wasting my time with hours in line AND putting my life in danger.
My thoughts exactly. Someone is covering for someone.
well, i'll be there.
right after the 8AM
service at my church.
pray for me.
I'll repeat what I wrote earlier.
Has anyone been allowed by a LEO at the show to open the case at the entry/gun check and touch the firearm BEFORE the LEO checked the firearm?
It's a shame some idiot had to go and do a downright stupid thing like bringing a loaded gun to the show, spoiling it for the rest of us AND making all gun owners look bad in the process. A real shame. We're better than this.
I'm going too. Gonna see if I can pick up a bullet resistant vest off Armslist tonight to wear tomorrow.
I'm not saying it was the fault of the LEO checking the gun. But if it was, do you really think they're going to admit that?
My own experience at the show was average. I wasn't looking for any guns and it's a good thing too because the prices on ARs were absolutely insane. Someone had their Colt tagged for $6k+.
One table had moderately high prices on mags, accessories, etc. But then there were these signs taped above every bin saying "Prices are DOUBLE what's listed." Oh yeah, that's really nice and insulting! Don't bother taking down your old prices, just put out cards saying they are now doubled. He must think we're all idiots.
I found a couple of good deals on used (non-AR!) mags and picked up some ammo cans cheap. Asked a lady selling CAT tourniquets and Israeli battle dressings if she could make me a deal on 2 of each. "Nope." Flat out.
Yeah, have fun taking those back home with you lady.
WRAL says the owner pulled the gun out of the case, not a LEO
The officer at the press conference said the same thing.
But the official story isn't always the truth.
Ya know, I am not sayin', just sayin' and take it for what it's worth...but has anyone noticed how many gun show shootings there have been in the past year? Several....just sayin'.......
Quoted for truth.
I got there at 7:45. Was way around the building. Thought I wouldn't get in until noon. Got in by 9:35.
Walked VERY QUICKLY back to Georgia Arms, stood in line for 20 minutes, bought ammo. Walked around, saw Ruger 1911 for 949.00. I lol'd.
Then, GET THIS: I saw a dude walking around with a Keltech KSG Shotgun, with a price tag of $5,000 !!! I rolmao.
I left before negligent dumbass shot someone. Likely never going back. Just go to local shops.
Sounds like the guy didn't know the gun was loaded, had the safety off when it was in the case, and put his finger on the trigger when he pulled the gun out of the case at the show to be checked. Basically, broke every safety rule he possibly could. Don't ya think that is the most reasonable explanation??
He's darn lucky he didn't kill anybody as crowded as it sounds like it was. I just hope the lady wasn't hurt too badly. Sounds like she got the worst of it.
Has anybody heard if the shot went through the end of the case? That would have slowed it down a bunch.
Channel 36 here is saying the gun owner was shot in torso, and two others in the hand.
We shall never know the real deal on this
Funny how there can be so many different stories when something like this happens. Reporters interviewing eyewitnesses who don't quite have their facts straight, I guess.
So we down to 2 or 3 people meeting up tomorrow morning?
He shot himself in the torso with a long gun? Yeah, and I tuck my penis into my sock to keep it from dragging on the ground.
Always wondered why you walked with a limp
I was just gonna ask if you're still coming. I guess you'll be the guy with the handlebar mustache and the plate carrier vest.
Still bringing those pastries?
I have around 2 dozen cinnamon rolls/sticky buns and several muffins...
I will post a picture of me when I wake up and leave the house. I wake up at 1am so people should see it...
I noticed before on your avatar it said you were a NY transplant. Just curious as to where you were from in NY? I am the same living in Holly Springs. I'm from central NY, about 20 minutes east of Syracuse. My wife & I are both LeMoyne College alums.
Emperor Bloomberg's jurisdiction. Glad I moved outta there.
moving out of NY was the best thing we've ever done, better weather/job opportunities and we get to keep more of our $ here...at least for now, I get the feeling in the not too distant future we will be paying much higher taxes as all of the northeastern liberals move here to leave the high taxes and vote for the same politicians that they left.
There's a lot of that going around.
Wearing shorts must be a thrill.
At the gun show in Columbia today I saw so many people showing guns to potential buyers during the off to the side- private sales with fingers on the triggers...I'm surprised no one was shot at this one, too.
For people worried about being shot tomorrow, that place is going to be locked up tighter than a frogs asshole. Probably the safest time to go.
Coffee and pastries meet and eat at Dixie tomorrow morning: https://www.carolinashootersclub.com/threads/123616-Dixie-Sunday-morning-coffee-and-pastries-meetup
