I understand that the show in Raleigh next weekend is C&E. I have been to the Dixie shows and liked them. Are the C&E shows any better or worse? Do they have the same vendors?
Thanks,
Joe

We will be camping at Jordan Lake this coming weekend, so I will probably ride over and check it out....ANYTHING has to be better than the Fayetteville show we have here...LOL

Fairgrounds schedule when I looked said it was back in the graham building (same as the Dixie show). Plus Georgia arms has it on their list of shows they are doing. So it should be decent.
YAY!!! Georgia Arms!!! Maybe they will actually have some reloading stuff....

Not sure I would be looking at Georgia arms for that (although they do sell a little)

I can already tell you where one reloading vendor will be (guy with his own wood displays, same place every show)...against the back wall, (combine his line with the crowd around the georgia arms booth that is likely to be in the same area..lots of fun)..

Also 3 rows off the left wall, first table, is usually one (though this is the one that skipped fayetteville 2 weeks ago due to lack of stock).

The last gun show I went to was the Greensboro show. I heard it was the best in the state. I was not disappointed. It was the best that I've been to, although the only other shows I've been to are the Fayetteville (MAJOR disappointment, last one I've been to was 1.5 yrs ago) and the Dixie show in Raleigh, that is usually pretty good.

The show here in Fayetteville is C&E, so I'm a little reluctant to drive to Raleigh to see another, unless it is bigger and has different vendors.

Greensboro is a different promoter than dixie and c&E thats one show I had never been to before the last one (when the circus was there, was a circus in the show too) different mix of vendors for sure, looking forward to the next one.

I like the fayetteville shows to be honest, seems to have a higher than usual percentage of ar15 and other EBR types that normal, will be most of the same vendors plus several more.

This show not as good as the dixie shows, and some vendors skip it just because the dixies are bigger and draw more traffic ("cutting our own throats" by doing both as one vendor I overheard say) but its the best and biggest of the c&e shows Ive ever been to (never gone to hickory).

I dont understand... how could doing both shows cut their throats? By getting more exposure to a larger number of customers? By making more sales?

Someone please 'splain this rationale to me!

I coulda sworn that was the name of the vendor that I got my stuff from last time....maybe not. The vendor was in the middle, almost the very middle of the show. Had the best prices in the place....man, I will have to look and see if I can find the name.

Well two things

1. the dealer who said it is one of the ones that has what I call a "traveling museum" i.e. he's had some of the same guns since november (good ones) at prices that would make a somali pirate proud. At the point he said it he could have sold every gun on his table if he had priced them $100 over GUNBROKER (inflated) prices.

2. when he said it was at a c&e show 2-3 weeks after a dixie show in the same building (bad scheduling on the c&e folks part, although doing it the weekend that they had the last one where they couldnt even get the graham building topped that) and the buying was noticeably down from the dixie prior.

I think the point is that the dixie shows (in his opinion) eat up most of the "gun show" appetite of the raleigh market and that by having both shows he dillutes what he sells at both. Most of the dealers are the same between the two, I cant think of any dealer that is a c&e exclusive, but I can say the reverse (for awhile georgia arms was only doing the dixie shows).

I cant speak for him why he feels that way and not being anything more than another guy in the crowd for a few hours each show i cant say that the sentiment is spread beyond him. But he wasnt at the last c&e show and was at the dixie show last month. Maybe he feels people dont know that there are two shows and is afraid the lesser (c&e) show is hurting turnout at the dixie shows because people dont know there is a "show better than this one" (cant say I agree).

you very may have, they do have a small area on their table with powders books and the like but 90% of their booth (and its large) is loaded ammo, from 25rnd bags up to 1k rounds in mil. ammo cans in pretty much any caliber. Their being here for this show is a good sign, it means the buy rate is down and or the component supply is up, they skipped both the last c&e show here as well as the last HUGE show in DC. Often the popular ammo gets hit quick by hurricane consumer (9mm and 380 will be gone sat. lunchtime) but I'm pretty sure their 223 actually made it through the dixie show last month.

Hardesty's usually comes up from Morehead City for the C & E, but will not do a Dixie. Mrs. Hardesty does not get along with the Dixie promoter.

This is the type of dealer that I have seen all the time (granted, it's been 1.5 yrs since I've been there, but this is primarily why) at the Fayetteville show. Used S&W revolvers with a LOT of mileage and wear for $350 or higher!

Went to the Dixie show in Raliegh and found Primers on Sunday at 120.00 per 1000. I asked the man what the real price was and his reply was "I have 50k primers how many do you want?" I just walked away. He was located at the right rear corner of the building. If you really, really, really need primers he might have about 50k left.

Hardesty's has a lot of new firearms and some used. Prices are usually very competitive. they are usually up front with around 10 tables.
