Do you have a Concealed Permit? If so, no problem. Otherwise, in NC you would need to win the argument in court that carrying it in the bag was not: On or about the person, within arms reach or within ready access. Loaded or not does not matter. Your best bet is to get a concealed permit.

Thanks, sounds like I can get a locking box for the bag then and be good to go. I’ve had my CCW class delayed since beginning of March, hopefully I can get my permit soon!
