Ok, point me to some small sized carry guns.

Im looking for RELIABLE.
As Small as possible.
Still packs a punch. I would rather not go smaller than 9mm. Having said that If I cant find anything else. I MIGHT consider the LCP.
I just want something better than a .380

My issue.
My main carry XD45 compact is great for everything BUT carrying at work.
Outside, hot, dirty, sweaty, bending up down up down, hands over head. The XD just dosnt cut it. There just no way to keep it concealed at work. I would be outed in 5 minutes or less.

I was looking at something like the PF 9. But it seems to have some serious reliability issues from numerous reviews and personal use storys from people I have asked.

So what are some of my options?

I really like my NAA Guardian 380. Some think it too heavy for a pocket pistol at 18oz, but in my DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster it rides sweet for me. I haven't had it very long but so far, so good! I purchased it new not long ago, and I like it so much that I just picked up a second one used!

It is very accurate. On my second range trip with it, I was able to put 30 rounds thru one 4-inch hole at seven yards. I didn't do as well the first time out, it takes a little getting used to.

carry

airweight j-frame smith (you wont even know its there with good leather) or a kahr pm9 (heavier but tucks away nicely)

I just agonized over the same decision recently (if you don't believe me ask Catman253), and I went with a Smith & Wesson J-frame. The advantages of the revolver outweighed the potential disadvantages of the small autos for my situation.

Very true! I'm a witness. But he eventually came around and made the right call.

I'm also a proponent of the Smith & Wesson airweight j frame .38 revolvers. They will function perfectly well as a pocket gun in one of the hammerless platforms such as the 642 or 442. They are also available in these models WITHOUT the integral locking system which, IMHO, is essential in a personal defense firearm. And, if you are so inclined, they are rated for .38 +P.

You can't go wrong with a light weight j-frame. I also like my Keltec P3AT, too. It all depends on how much you want to spend, how you plan to carry and which one you feel the most comfortable with. With that being said, I recommend buying a j-frame and a small auto like the LCP or P3AT. :D

I have been carrying my wifes smith a lot since the summer and I gotta say, it's a good all around gun.

Yeah, but I'm looking for some dark purple ones for me

The S&W j-frames are too large for me to comfortably and stealthily carry in my front pocket... otherwise I agree would be a great choice.

Your pockets may vary... :D
I could maybe get by carrying in my front pocket but I have been carrying it in the fobus holster I got from republican24/7 which works great. I like fobus paddle holsters anyway. I carry my .40 in a fobus.

+1 on the J-frames. After trying several different guns for carry (XDsc, P7M8, Kimber) I finally listened to Catman and went for the S&W 642-1. Love it! Now it's the J-frame all the time. I seldom even notice it's there. Highly recommend you take a second look and give it a try. Good luck!

+1 on the J frames. I carry a 340 S&W and love it. Mine is a Scandium, .357 magnum and is very light. It is also hammerless, reducing the likelihood of it binding up while being shot from my pocket.

I've only seen a "jam" on a revolver once in my life. The shooter's hand was shot during the confrontation and the bone got into the cylinder area and prevented it from turning. Most folks will not have that as an issue.

I do all of those motions, though I am not sweaty ( I work in an office ) but I conceal my XD9SC every day and have never been made....I use a smartcarry.

Ok thanks for all the replys.

So the J-frames seem to be in just about every post.

How well do they work for a pocket gun. Say in Jeans?

How does the .38 stack up agains other rounds for Personal defense.. (Im a .45 guy)

Now the rookie question. How do they shoot? I mean, I have been shooting guns all my entire life, and I am a semi-auto guy. My dad had a few wheel guns that I shot a few times when I was little but I cant remember much about them or even what caliber they were. Other than that I literally have 0 wheel gun experience and all my life as far as pistols go I have been dealing with mags and slides.

I carry my 642-1 j-frame in the front pocket of Wrangler jeans on a daily basis. The gun just disappears, especially with the help of a good pocket holster. As for pricing, I suggest you contact Chuck (Catman253) at Morris Firearms. You can reach him at (336) 961-6800. Chuck stocks the j-frames, has great pricing on them, and is more than willing to address any questions or concerns you may have. Chuck, you owe me big time. We'll have to renegotiate the price on that M&P I talked to you about.

I've carried a P3AT since they first came out. I love it. I use either a GURU pocket holster or prefer the grandfatheroak kydex pocket holster. Each has it's pro's and con's. I have also taken to carrying my Kimber Pro CDP II (4") in a crossbreed super tuck more. I sure like it and am real comfortable with the function and feel of it.

As far as revolvers: I've been looking at them and am considering one for many reasons. As a point here, it was mentioned in a previous post that jams are very rare. While true, I had one of my students come to the range with a box of S & B .38 lead round nose. She loaded the revolver and fired the first round. The cylinder would not rotate for the next. Upon inspection, the bullet extended past the end of the cylinder. We had to use a knife to cut the lead to allow it to index. We looked in the box and aligned the cartridges on the table. They looked like a big city skyline. Several varied in length. Bad ammo lot? The point here is to check before you put your butt on the line.
