Ruby Ridge almost 20 years ago

I was 12 when the Federal agents shot and killed Randy Weaver's dog, then his 14y/o son, shot Randy in the back, then shot Randy's wife in the head as she held her 10 month old baby. I didn't remember much about it until a while back, and became interested in it while researching the constitution and our rights. That day in august of 1992, an FBI agent/and his superiors became judge, jury, and executioners trampling all over their 5th amendment rights.

If you don't remember what it was about, just take a few minutes to learn.

Everyone that thinks some of us are crazy for not trusting our own government needs to read this.

Amen.

I expect we will have many more Ruby Ridge type incidents as DHS grows in size and scope over the coming years.
This book is well worth the read about Ruby Ridge. Very informative and tries to be fair to everyone involved, but there's no way it can't slant in the Weaver's favor. Also there is one episode of a series on Biography channel called "Aftermath with William Shatner" with Sara Weaver (the oldest daughter) as a guest. Puts a face to the tragedy like a book can't. Tough to imagine what it took to grow up with that.

I'd bet DHS thinks the same thing...
I remember that and still think about that. Thats enough to make my blood boil again!
But it begs the question if "we" learned anything from that fiasco......

The vast majority of the people - absolutely not! Some of us - yes.
Tomorrow marks 20yrs since the attack

It was a sad sad day in our country's history. I feel the same about Waco. While I will agree that David Koresh was a nutball, they did not deserve what they got, over tax stamps and weapon and ammo stockpiles. I just feel that with people now, the majority will just roll over and agree to anything that is said or done to them by the government.

I don't mean to stand on a soapbox, but look at NYC. Seriously, no soft drinks over a specific size, women being strongly urged to breastfeed insted of using formula. What is next? I truly fear that people are more concerned with IPads and smartphones than the rights that are being stripped away from them. To my knowledge Randy Weaver and his family did nothing to provoke the shootout. It just seems that the majority think he and his family were horrible people who had it coming...

Sorry for my rant, but this still makes my blood boil. If my comment is too brash for outside the minefield, please delete it. I truly am sorry, but it gets me mad just thinking that it could have been anyone of us that this happened to.....

^ I agree with all of this post! ^

If we remember back, the Oklahoma City Bomber Timothy McVey stated that he did what he did in retaliation for Ruby Ridge and Waco.

I am not condoning his actions, just bringing up what he said...
All over $5.00. Millions spent for the seige and trial over what amounted to not registering the short barrel shotgun that he was entrapped to sawing off for the informant. Not to mention the people killed all over what is a $5.00 tax.
I remember seeing Ruby Ridge on TV when I was a kid. My dad, who was very much into guns was angry about it.

Later on, I borrowed my dads copy of 'Every Knee Shall Bow'.. a book about Ruby Ridge, and I read up about happened.

It makes my blood boil for sure.

Waco I remember seeing on the news as well. I was very upset as a kid to learn that our government was killing children inside the compound.
Based on how the DHS is gearing up it seems that events like Ruby Ridge will be mere footnotes in history pretty soon. The books will be like "DHS killed ______ people on ______ day." It'll sound like something quite ordinary.

In before the government will never hurt you crowd.

I hope you are wrong. And I fear you are not.
