Hey guys. I have a Fatboy 64 (Liberty) gun safe. Mine has the electronic lock. It has been acting up. Sometimes I have to put my code in 2,3 or 4 times before I can access my safe. When i put my code in, I can hear it accept it but when I go to turn the handle it wont open. Sometimes I have to wiggle it back and forth some and it will finally open, other times it resets and I have to try again with the whole process. The battery (Duracell) is just over a year old. I'm gonna replace it but I don't think that is the problem. I like my electronic lock for fast access (WHEN IT WORKS)...but as a prepper and thinking of the worst case scenarios I'd rather have a combination lock that will never fail like an electronic one (EMP etc).

What can ya'll advise me for a solution? I got a heck of a deal on my safe, so that's why it has the electronic lock instead of a combination. I've even looked into having the electronic replaced with a combination....I think it's gonna be around $3-400 for parts and labor for a locksmith.

PM me the code and your address and I'll stop by one night and see if I can figure out the problem.

I promise you won't even be awake so this service will be hassle free.

I would say start with the battery....When mine gets low, it does something similar....If that doesn't work, I'd call Liberty. They are real good on the warranty. I went from a Liberty turn dial to an electronic in a different line, but really wanted the Liberty model you have...just ran up on a deal. I am sure you have the website, but if not, here they are:

You can call them and get an replacment combo lock for 100-150 and do it your self. they can pre set the number.
IT is easy to install.
Also a lot of the big safe stores change out to E locks and have a stack of Combos that they may sell you.
They charge you for the upgrade and keep your lock, if it did not come factory.
