I'm thinking the yuppies are moving out of Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh into the "country".I was born and raised in Pittsboro. The bulk of my family lives there. Real Estate prices there are getting outrageous there. Even with free land, my wife and I got more for our money in Person County (much closer to work as well)
This. Pittsboro is less "rural Chatham County" and more "south Chapel Hill" and "west Cary." Having said that, I'd live in Pittsboro in a heartbeat, especially over Sanford.I'm thinking the yuppies are moving out of Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh into the "country".

Ain't that the truth!...and ruining it
Well they do that everywhere don't they? We've got people moving out of Denver into the Valley in Colorado. Then they want all the conveniences they left in Denver but don't realize (or don't care) that that's what caused the problems they are moving out of Denver to get away from.......and ruining it
This. Sanford's only an option when Fayetteville is the other choice.This. Pittsboro is less "rural Chatham County" and more "south Chapel Hill" and "west Cary." Having said that, I'd live in Pittsboro in a heartbeat, especially over Sanford.
This........lived in the sanford "area" 59 years and actually do not like sanford at all...but the surrounding areas. broadway, lemon springs and deep river are still rual and nice...I'm in the deep river area, jump on US 1..in Raleigh 40 mins, Fayetteville, 45, chapel hill / durhan 40, southern pines 40 and skip sanfordIf you want the best of both live in between them. Asbury, Deep River, along Rocky River, etc. Think Lee/Chatham line area. Sanford itself is nothing to brag about, but I can tell you from many yrs experience that rural northern Lee is better than most any place in Chatham. Yes the property tax rates are a little higher, but try building a home in each county and dealing with the respective municipal filings, fees, and enforcement agencies. Then try (legally) making improvements to the property down the road. Your life will be much easier in Lee.
Not to mention that Lee County's current sheriff will sign on NFA, but Chatham's will not. Chatham ain't bad, but Lee is better.
This^^That's a whole 'nother reason to consider the areas I suggested. I shop in Apex, Cary, and Raleigh instead of Sanford. It is the same time drive from my place in Moncure. Also you can cut through on Hwy 42 to get out to Fuquay Guns and Gold!
