The USMC has apparently totally done away with the most holy 1911. What a shame. Gone to the unholy 9mm. Wanna know what I think? Tell ya what I think ...

The Marine Corps is going in a Totally unacceptable direction. Getting rid of tanks, deactivating infantry Regiments. The whole make the Marine Corps softer garbage makes me sick! The incoming CMC is in the hip pocket of the current CMC and will take it further in the disgusting direction. This WOKE BS is going to destroy our country. I was at Parris Island about 4 months ago. I remember when It was a crown jewel. The place was emaculant and nothing out of place. Now, weeds growing up around the PT tables 3 to 4 foot high. Recuits standing around outside the chowhall bumping their gums and standing in groups. It seams that the USMC has lost its attention to detail. The little things add up, and then they bite you in the ass. I could go on and on. It is hard to see what is happening to our country. The 1911 is tried and true, and they want to screw it up with something new, and mostly plastic.

Gunny,
Your most interesting and appropriate comments are not lost on me. If my body would allow it, I would be kicking ass, and taking names. As I am sure you would be.

We are at a stage in life that it seems, everything old is no longer good. That is truly sad. People of this new generation have not had the experiences we have had. Never handed anything. Haven't delt with roatary phones. Reading books to do research! Just a simple life mostly. I could go on and on, but it would be taken as an insult. Not an insult, just completely different, and I wouldn't change a thing. Alot of older things are alot better. Made to last and work for an amazingly long time.

Absotivley!! Yep, rotary phones!! And just imagine the vacuum created when anal sphincters pucker at the mere thought of working addition problem without a calculator. Oh my, and they tend to spew so-called facts while looking down their ski-sloped noses. Oh, I'm with you Gunny, and Sourwood Tom as well. Good night Gents.

Tonight on our local channel 62, wycw, season 4 episode 32 of The Andy Griffith Show featured Gomer joining the USMC. Andy's description of what it would be like is truly funny.

I know Andy Griffith ultimately turned out to be an off the wall left-wing wacko, but for those of us who were raised on Andy, it's hard not to watch and enjoy.

When I was studying for my masters at Western Carolina, I had the great fortune to take a QBA class for Engineering Technology with Dr. George Mechling. He was talking about "robust" programming. As an example of robust, he cited the Colt 1911. Miserable, hard class, but did very well because of his great knowledge and teaching style. He also loved the 1911, a sign of great character in my book.

I presume the Corps presumes the enemy soldier of this day and time is just as soft as he/she is, maybe they all are but I doubt it. Everybody with a little knowledge of the development of the 1911 knows the weapon was considered minimum caliber to use against foes of the period. Minimum, not overkill by any stretch. The 9mm is very effective at brain shots, the nazis were very efficient at that, something us Americans refrain from in our military operations. It’s ability to stop a charging Moro hopped up on drugs is questionable, the .45 cal 1911 isn’t.

Lol, ignorance you say. Ballistic gel only asset is it’s repeatability but no where close to the variables in a real world combat zone. The tests done back in the day were more related to the reality of of those variables. Here’s a link to a review of the tests our government employed to come up with the best sidearm for our servicemen. Still holds true today, jmho.

Good grief guys. You can't have a difference of opinion without resorting to personal attacks?

I'm locking this one. It has run its course.

Next step is the ban hammer. Just saying.
