i have a chance to pick up a first generation scorpion today for slightly over msrp. My goal is to sbr it and attach a 3 lug adapter for my tirant. I've found the 18x1 adapter in stock, and I would never really thread direct on the barrel with that option.

For SBR purposes, would it be better to go ahead and get the first gen or wait for the new one with 1/2x28 thread pattern? I would like to get in my app before the new rules take effect and with how they sold previously there's no guarantee I'll be able to get a second gen easily.

What say you guys?

Thanks guys. I went ahead and picked one up from TSA today. I also ordered a manticore 18x1 3 lug adapter but it's a bit bulky for my taste. I found a reputable company that will rethread the barrel and may pursue that option. His metric tooling is occupied for the next month and I'd like to thread it 13.5x1 LH to match my pistols. If I go that route I'll probably end up selling my tirant 3 lug adapter and scorpion adapter to make back some $ and appease the wife.

I'm looking at stock options now. I can't find anyone who has the 922r kit. Lage manufacturing makes a cool folding stock setup that I may order.

Now I just need to put together my form 1 and get that ball rolling.

I just snagged a 922 kit from somebody. Next step, getting in my forms. I'll be going over BigWaylon's tutorial tonight. I've done a few form 4s but this will be my first form 1. Never really felt the need for an SBR, but with the new rules coming down and the fact that I find the SBR'd scorpion one of the sexiest firearms around, had to pull the trigger.

is there a consensus on what to enter with "state why you intend to make a firearm"? I like your all lawful reasons but I couldn't find anything for sure on a search. I remember hearing they are a little picky about that.

If you're filing a Scorpion, use "CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1" as the model. Yes, it's completely stupid to put CZ after already putting it as the manufacturer, but they've denied multiple forms recently for "Scorpion Evo 3 S1".

Here is a thread discussing it on AR15, with a copy of the F1 Disapproval. I saw at least three post the same thing that week. Note to folks SBRing a Scorpion Evo (note some people already have approved forms with the non-CZ model...it's so ridiculous, and honestly, no idea what'll happen with those that come up for approval several months from now.
Agreed completely stupid as my form 1 got rejected for this once already. Drives me crazy.

APPLICANT MAY REAPPLY - REFUND IN PROCESS.INCOMPLETE FORM. MODEL INCORRECT. PLEASE CHECK FIREARM RECEIVER FOR CORRECT MODEL DESIGNATION POSSIBLY ?CZ SCORPION EVO3 S1?.

I went ahead and submitted my form, making sure to use CZ in front of the model name. I can see why they want it I suppose, since it is typed like that on the gun. No reason for a disapproval though.

I noticed something weird when reviewing my form. On BigWaylon's visual guide, it says to enter my trust name in the corporation/entity field and leave the trade name blank which I did. When I look at the actual form that was populated, my trust name is in "3a Trade Name". I double checked to make sure I left that field blank. My trust name is also in the "applicant's name and mailing address" field. Is that normal?

I've never used e-forms, but paging @BigWaylon ...he's an e-form guru lol.
