I wne to the Wake County range today to sight in my ar. I am having a focus problem. I noticed that every time I mounted the rifle I had to refocus it. I wear progressive bifocals. Has anybody had problems retaining focus with them? It is hard to get a consistant shot when I cant seem to keep the target focused while looking at it. On a side note I dont seem to have this problem shooting my handguns with iron sights. Not that I have noticed anyways. Any help would be apreciated.

UGH!! I have had the hardest time with my progressives. Even with pistols. My red dot on my AR doesn't seem too bad. Shooting iron sites, I have to remember to tilt my head back to get the sites in focus. I have given up on getting both.

I got out of shooting for a number of years and when I came back, I had progressive lenses. I think it might be time for a new pair.... But that cuts down on my Guns and ammo purchases :)

My only suggestion to you is repetition. I have to make sure my position on the rifle is the same each time. Other than this I am definitely open to suggestion.

I have glass eyes on all my rifles so my eye glasses are not a problem. With my pistols if I look through the top I see the target but can't see the sights. Looking through the bottom I see the sights but can't see the target. Since I have started wearing bifocals there is no way I will ever be able to shoot as I could when younger. I now practice shooting with my arm stretched out and look over the gun or shoot from the hip. At 10 yds. I can still hit something as big as a bear. Anything smaller or farther away doesn't worry me. Larry

When I had to go to bifocals, I told the doc I was a shooter, so he fixed me up with 2 prescriptions, one without the bifocal part. I got a pair of sunglass frmaes with that prescription and amber lenses. I think I can see out of them better than by bifocals. I'd wear them all the time, but my kids make fun of them.
