Id really love a Saiga in 7.62 that I can tinker with and eventually convert or maybe just keep in the sporter version. I honestly dont mind the Monte Carlo stock.

Theyre seemingly impossible to find or at least Im not very patient. Are SKS-Ds just as hard to find? Am I fooling myself into thinking its the faster, easier way to a 7.62 rifle with 30 round mags?

I would think an sks-d would be harder to find at a decent price....

    Wait for the Saiga.
Centerfire Systems my have some left.
Beware the thumbhole stocked ones if you want to go the evil black rifle look. The receivers on those are angle cut on the bottom and third party conversion stock do not attach without an additional support modification.
My X39 with the thumbhole kicks butt just the way it came.

Price of the SKS D & M is going to be more unless you wait for a deal to come around. I have both. The insertion of the AK mag in the SKS takes a little getting used to. The Siaga will be just like any other AK mag insertion. The D's have been going upward of 550+ and some higher. M's 500+. I know where a thumbhole stock version is for 450, it's a little beat up.

If it is going to be a shooter that you will use a lot get the siaga, they are available for 399.99 brand new, and every now and then you can swipe a used one for 300 or 350. You will just need to do the cheap and simple conversion for AK mags with the saiga. If you like SKS's and just want the D or M to have it for collecting and shooting, go for it. Otherwise I would go with the Saiga. Also Classic and Atlantic Firearms has partially converted Saigas (Pistol grip and trigger group moved forward and takes AK mags) for 500 something with 3 mags.

Oh and if you must have an SKS-D PM me, but warning it will be a must have price :D :D

I'd rather a saiga in 7.62 tbh. Just thought the D might be an affordable alternative.
