OK since I've been going night fishing alot lately I need something to dispatch 35 lb snapping turtles. It will be threaded and a can will go on it. Now am I going to have to buy CCI minimags? Because I refuse to do that. It will shoot bulk federal or I will not have it.

If you want a .22 pistol that shoots bulk pack without any problems...the Mosquito isn't it. Get a Ruger MkIII 22/45 with a threaded pac-lite receiver.
I agree. I have a Mosquito and it can be finicky about the ammo it eats.

A co-worker bought a Mosquito a few months back and couldn't get Win "Wildcat 22"(?) to work at all (constant FTF & chambering jams). Mini-Mags are 100% in it now...

Not knowing the inherent "finickiness" & thinking these were like any other firearm (may not like a specific brand/type), I traded him some Centurion & Fed bulk stuff to see if they worked any better. He hasn't tested these rounds yet, but this thread has me wondering if it'll shoot bulk at all & be forced to use "more expensive" ammo...

First, I seriously doubt a .22 LR will penetrate a turtle's shell. You MIGHT get lucky with a head shot. And I agree with the question asked - why kill the cooters?

As for the Mosquito, don't buy one, refuse to run the factory-recommended ammo, then come back and post what a lousy gun it is. The Mosquito is a fine, accurate, reliable piece, IF the manufacturer's recommendations are followed pertaining to ammo used, spring used, and cleaning/oiling. If you want something that'll shoot any crummy ammo you buy at the jockey lot, get a Block.

Snappers bring serious $$.

I aint gotta worry about penetrating a shell if he's pulled up on the bank beside me. Even if he was 25 yds away, with the head the size of a baseball I got nothing to worry about.

Sig seriously recommends MiniMags only? That is horrible IMO. Is the pistol blowback only w/ fixed barrel or is it delayed blowback?

I already have a 22/45 MKIII with a volquartsen trigger pack. I just didn't feel like buying a paclite upper then buying a suppressor on top of the stamp. The rugers look funny to me non integral.

I'll prolly just end up doing a Norell integral. It will be quieter and I wont have to worry about POI shift.

The Mosquito that I had(emphasize had) would not eat Federals at all. Mini-mags worked without a hitch, and thankfully golden bullets worked near perfect also. But I've heard that each Mosquito is different as far as it's ammo likeness. The newer ones are supposed to be much better.
