Is this a young Kingsnake? He was in the kitchen looking to warm up. Sorry for the fuzzy pic, he did not want to sit still. He is now back where he belongs in the woods (still living).

He's reddish brown with a cross hatched pattern, he is most fortunate that the lady of the house had already gone to bed or he may have received the kosh treatment.

The "kosh treatment" sounds similar to the "mrstrcubed monkey stomp."

Looks like a corn snake. Could be a rat snake? Hard to tell from the pics.

Definitely harmless, not a corn snake. I going with garter snake, what threw me off is he did not have the lines down his body. The cross hatching is faint.

I was going to say corn snake as well but it is kind of hard to tell with the pics being so blurry.

EDIT: I had a Garter snake when I was a kid and it had stripes.

After some research, I'm changing my guess to Eastern Garter Snake

I beleive it is an adult Brown snake, found this pic that looks just him, 10" with the spots behind his head.

Definitley a brown snake. Small, harmless and feeds mainly on insects and earthworms.
