Snake Nests?

The last two nights I couldn't sleep in my room there was just a real foul-sweet smell in it. This morning I went outside to see if it was coming from out there (I basically turned the room inside out trying to find anything inside) and there near the window in the mulch I see a pretty huge white thing. it looked like a stone at first (I took pics but the glare made it so you could see) it was about 6" long and another 4" high. It had round holes and it was peach colored on the inside. Flies were comin at it left and right. all around I could see little small white egg looking things (some looked less egg shaped than others) and here and there I'd see some more peach colored crap laying around that almost looked like shrimp! It definitely was the source of the smell. I had my dog sniff it and he led me to this:

by following the scent. The color is grey and black. and that's the underside. he then was fixated on my window where most of the smell had come through. So question is, do snakes lay huge eggs?

Eggs over spoiled

Whew :crying:

Well it depends on the size of the egg, perhaps a black snake or an escaped pet.

I would wager that is is/was a reptile egg (maybe bird) that thought this was a good place to make a nest. Possible the mother was eaten or the egg rolled, fell, or became the feeding place of a predator.

That's my two cents.

Only thing i see is the backside of a shutter in the grass.
Same here. I actually thought a shutter or the underside of a drainage thingy you put under your gutter.

I could not even begin to comment on whether it was snake eggs without seeing something other than the pic you gave. you might as well have given a picture of a truck tire. Maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry! it's the bit in the middle is a bunch of scales smooshed on the bottom of the drain pan. I tossed the thing in the trash can I suppose I could try and dig it out if need be

Ohhh, I might have misread. I didn't know you were using that to show us scales. Honestly that could have been just something a snake recently or not so recently used to start it's shed or get a rough little bit that wouldn't break lose. No telling. As far as the eggs or supposed snake eggs, the only egg layers around these parts that occur naturally are going to lay small eggs. Now some pythons will put out some really large eggs but then it's not really time for them to lay right now either.
Would be interesting to know what you had there, seems like a smelly mushroom, small decaying carcass, maybe eggs, I don't know. Would be interesting for sure. If you ever need snakes removed from your property please let me know.

Thanks it was smooshed to all hell in my trash. if I find more ill revive the thread and try for better pics. I saw some small eggs but the big thing was like huge and real leathery, maybe it was fungal? flies came and went at it. The smells gone so that's what I was worried about. The reason I thought it could be snake related was because the dog followed the stink and led me to that snake peel.
