I have an interview with the State Dept. Of Agriculture next week. Was just curious about the culture and was hoping to talk to someone if they're familiar with it.

Get the job. Then do the job. That's all there is to working for the man.

State jobs are not usually high pressure unless they are political in nature. Do your job correctly keep your head down during the probationary period and then you'll breeze into the ever after. The last ten years have been the hardest hit state employees have had for a good while. Pay and hiring freezes under irresponsible government control during the past with 2008 recession brought a lot down. It's looking up now or at least was.
