I recently contracted the BRD and I went with a SA&A stripped lower. I think they're about the cheapest lowers out there (of course when PSA's aren't on sale). The finish is pretty good quality and everything went together nicely, not too tight not too loose. After assembling the lower I put on a complete upper that I got from SA&A (made by Aero Precision, same makers of the lower) and it fits nice and snug. So even though I'm brand new to the AR, for the money I think an SA&A lower is a good start for a budget build.

Total cost for the complete lower was $185 (that's with the stock, buffer, spring and tube), with shipping and FFL fee. Total for the complete upper (BCG included) was $342 shipped, so total for a complete rifle was $527. I've put 520 rds through it so far, 400 rds of that being Tula, I couldn't be happier.

So after reading details on AimSurplus, do you have to hold an FFL/C&R to order through them? Or can you order and have it shipped to the FFL of your choice?

You can have it shipped to an FFL. Just fax or mail their info.

You can order from AimSurplus and have it shipped to your FFL. AimSurplus does have to have your dealers FFL on file to do so. I got mine from Karri's guns.
