Yes, that is true.
But i'd rather risk it with a taser (I'd be interested in how many times/what sort of % of taser incidents involving police are fatal) than be stripped of my gun and beaten unconscious with it. (since he had zero desire to use his service pistol)

This is where it gets ugly. Civilians (certain civilians) declare war on the police. Police respond with prejudice (actions, laws, regulations) and the rest of us get caught (or caught up) in the crossfire. Yes, some of this has been brewing a long time, but I personally feel someone is stirring the pot and turning up the flame. I don't think it would reach this point on it's own. Actually, I feel it would idle back to simmer if it ran it's own course.

Being afraid to shoot criminals would take all the fun out of being a cop. It should be in the job description "Shoot all the idiots that charge or get aggressive with you with the understanding that this is a perk of the job."

The first victim or a clear demonstration that police simply can't handle situation without killing civilians?

I appreciate all the support police, but the trend where civilian life is worth nothing and police person life is worth everything make me doubt who exactly is serving.

Yep, police work is risky, but this exactly why they have good benefits and additional legal protection. An attempt to have benefits and delegate all the risk to civilians is a kind of attempt to climb a furtree and don't scrach the butt.

I blame the media. Well, They aren't the only pot stirrers (Sharpton, Jackson) , but they carry a TON of blame. They can sculpt the US's "tone". But its a double edged sword. I don't think that the people that needed justice would get it if their story wasn't out there. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I still think MSM sucks. FWIW.
