"Police say the deceased has a long rap sheet. He was currently out on parole for an armed robbery conviction. They are still looking for a suspect that is described as a black male with scruffy hair between the ages of 22 and 30. They say he is six feet tall with a thin build and was wearing a white tee shirt and blue shorts."

...blue shorts [with a yellow stain in the front, and another in the rear]....

scary situation with 3 kids standing right next to the [legal] shooter.

I have to say, it sounded a bit like a story from the wild west, "customer shoots from beneath barbers smock while being robbed"

Ha, same thing I thought on the shorts and smock. In the video they mention the legal shooter (one of them at least) used his non-gun hand to sweep the kids behind him. Good stuff right there.

Another happy ending and an exciting story!

Thanks for sharing.

The mental image of the customer in a smock makes me think of Clint Eastwood in a Poncho.

Great story, thanks for sharing. Wish stories like these could make the national news.
If it did they'd present it like the thug was a victim, or call the gun owner a vigilante and say he should be arrested for something. It would be put in a bad light somehow.

I noticed that too, that man was definitely thinking through the situation, my hats off to him.

I wouldn't have thought you could legaly carry in Detroit.
Yup, you absolutely can. Just like the rest of Michigan for the past 10 years since they passed shall-issue.

Oh yeah you can, you just have to qualify firing your weapon sideways.
Cute, but part of the problem. Law abiding citizens should have the right to carry handguns in any US city, especially those with higher violent crime rates than most. I'm not sure if the customer getting his haircut shot the scum bag while firing his weapon sideways (from under his smock) and I really don't care. I do care that he used his handgun to potentially save lives (children included) and ended the career of a criminal.

Fixed it for you.

"emptied his clip....."

I love that he emptied the mag! Thanks for sharing the story.
I just watched the video with my gf and with a puzzled look she asked, "What's an automatic clip?"

I've thought about this same scenario before while at the barber shop. It's pretty impressive that the CHP holder was able to flawlessly execute the plan safely and get the kids out of the way at the same time.

The only thing that could've made this story better is if the 2nd CHP holder took out BG #2 at the same time.. now that's movie stuff!

I didn't know you could carry in Detroit either, but I haven't gone up there since I was like 8yo. In a city like that you better be carrying!

You can buy a house in Detroit. A freestanding house with a yard for 3500 bucks. There are hundreds maybe thousands of houses in Detroit for under 5k. Check out zillow it's scary.
They couldn't pay me $3500 a year to live in the house!! Detroit is a study in American apathy.
