If you think this type of competitive shooting might be fun, that you'd win it fer sure, I've got a real challenge for you:
CMP Rimfire Sporter Rifle
The CMP (civilian marksmanship program) will be hosting the Eastern Games at Butner soon, and this would be just the game to show what you can do.
60 shots total, at ranges of 50 and 25 yds, 3 position, with slow and rapid fire stages, NO alibies, and you can't use a target rifle!
Only two classes, well actually 3 now: Telescope (6x or lower, or peeps if your brave!), Iron sights, and recently they added a Tactical class for those looking to put zombie-mall-ninja rifles out there!
These sporters must weigh 7.5lbs or less, with a 3lbs or higher trigger pull, you can use a sling and work glove, but leave the shooting coat and other target accessories at home, this is about you and your gun.
This is the 10th year since the games creation, and so far NO ONE has fired a perfect 600/60X, think the target must be tiny? Oh no gentle reader, that 10 ring is almost 2 inches across! That target is HUGE, but most folks are so deliberate, or unused to true "field positions", or just too rattled by the rapid fire stage to do their best the first time out.

Along with that meager entry fee, you get a T-shirt, ticket for the cookout at the end of the day, and the chance to shoot shoulder to shoulder with Mom-Dad, Sis and Bro, or son and daughter, this is truely a competition for everyone, cause most that shoot have a .22 languishing in the corner just waiting for ya to blow out the dust.
Like most, I watch Top shot for the shooting, despise how the drama portrays shooters, and enjoy seeing the new target scenarios. I personally cannot stand the name, since there is so little actual firearm shooting, still I'm sure it appeals to someone and just might expose them to a gun they hadn't considered.
Take care,
