Uhhhh.....I'm glad I changed my driving habits.

I am of two minds about this. Yes, I find people "camping" in the passing lane very annoying. But why have another law that the HP will not enforce? If this was an issue they could address it now with the current "failure to yield" laws.

COOL so now if I'm in the faast lane they can't give me a ticket cause I had to go that fast to stay out of the way.

There was a skit or a joke or some such Years ago I'm thinking the PoPo pulled a guy over for driving too slow in the fast lane in some ragitty old POS he said but officer my car was going as fast as it could.

AZ had this law. In the 10 years I lived there I only saw it used once...and that was a truly great day. Keep in mind, AZ has a boatload of "snowbirds" that only live there in the winter. Ninety years old driving a 4 ton 22ft long Delta 88 in the fast lane at 45mph during the morning commute.

I commute 90 miles each day and slow pokes - especially those in a Prius - in the fast lane really get under my skin.

Let's get school buses off the free way too. In the drivers manual they make a big deal about how vehicles moving too slow are at much greater risk for being involved in an accident. A few pages later they mention how to be on the lookout for slow moving school buses because they're on the freeway while governed to 45mph in a 65mph zone.

I would rather they give these tickets than sitting on the side of the road shooting radar to write tickets for 11 mph over the limit. Tickets ought to be written for impeding or exceeding the flow of traffic, not for violating an arbitrary speed limit that is very often set too low.

But the reality is that they are going to write these tickets and the 11-over tickets, so there really won't be a "right" way to drive.

If someone is camped out in the left lane DOING the SPEED LIMIT then there should be no problem right? I can not tell you how many times I have been 10 mph over and had someone pass me on the right doing 15-20 more. They usually give you the GTH look as they pass. Freakin eh! If you needed to get there that fast you should have taken a flight. Just sayin.

Since we are on the subject. If a tractor trailer pulls out to pass you, that's not the time to speed up. We are governed. If you speed up now we are all screwed. And the truck driver is usually as pissed as the folks behind him. Man do I hate that crap. And I'm the guy in the rig.

Yea but then you hit the next hill and slow down 10-15 mph now I'm screwed till the next downhill grade where the big rig can run 15 over the limit. Dont get me wrong I usually give the rig a wide berth if I cant run faster than you I'll slow down so you get buy faster but there ain't nothing as boring as getting stuck behind that big ol set of doors going up a mountain.

"Passing Lane". If you ain't "passing", you're in the wrong lane.

Getting ticketed for it isn't new.
Someone needs to tell this to the Charlotte CATS buses that get on I-77 heading south every day, exits 30 & 28 about 5:15-5:30 pm. As soon as is possible they move to the left lane. Only reason I can see for it is when they get to where I-77 opens up to where the HOV lane is they move to the left to get in that lane. But for 11 miles they've got traffic backed up. Ridiculous.

Great, this one again.

I know the world you all envision is one where the left lane is a barren wasteland and the right lane is full of people all going exactly the speed you think they should go. The law can't make that world.

When I'm driving in the left lane and someone comes up behind me they usually don't give me any time to get out of their way, they just blast around me on the right. Saves me a ton of trouble.

Anywhere within 50 miles of DC is like that.

I kinda doubt that. I can't find any specific mention of that kind of law. Maybe if it's part of a greater pattern of aggressive driving, but if all you're doing is signaling a slow driver to move over, I don't think they can legitimately ticket you for that and that alone.

Somebody runs up behind me and I make them slow down, I know they want to pass. No need to flash the high beams. Flashing high beams makes people want to keep you from passing.
You're the exception, then, because very often people going slow in the left lane aren't paying a bit of attention.

This is the same guy that wants to ban even holding a cell phone while driving right?
