I searched to see if this had been mentioned before but I didn't find any threads. I was talking with my cousin, Tech109 tonight and the topic of ultrasonic cleaners came up. Do any of you use one? What are your opinions of them? Thanks in advance.

We have one up here at the range. Gets the guns clean in places you cant even get to without completely dissassembling the gun. If you do alot of shooting then it would be worth the money spent. But also take in mind the chemicals that go in it are not very cheap.

I'm not sure what chemicals you are using, but if you are using the "standard" jewerly industry cleaners in it then yes they are expensive, BUT they are also not needed. A cupfull of Mr. Clean diluted the rest of the way with water works every bit as well in an ultrasonic as those high dollar chemicals.

Knowing that makes them a little more appealing! I was trying to weigh the costs and see if it was worth it. Thanks!

How long do the chemicals last before they are to dirty to use?
I have been shooting a lot of lead bullets and the lube residue builds up pretty fast. It would really be nice to just toss a gun in the tank for a while.

Also just how expensive are these things?
Kel-Tec expensive
Colt Expensive
Ferrari Expensive?
Inquiring minds want to know (and are to lazy to look it up for themselves  )

I use my cleaner to clean parts when I disassemble one of my firearms. Firing pins, springs, extractors, bolts, etc. It is small so I cannot clean and entire fun. I fill it with Hoppe's #9 and it does a great job. Easier than using a brush and picks.
