For the longest time those of us in the sport was cleaning out all mail order businesses that we knew of. Actually the panic buy at the start was just a panic for us and those suppliers we deal with most of the time, wallyworld was safe. Then something happened, can't quite put my thumb on it but I think in December it hit the masses.

All of the sudden Wallmart is out of everything. Let's be real here the average shooter buy's a couple of boxes a year if that, this is John Q. Public. I think the panic streched out to all the others from shooters to the regular home gun owner. I never thought that wallmart had that great of a selection so I never bought much there other than .22's or an occasional white box if I was in a bind.

So either John Q. Public has fallen in line with panic buying like the rest of us OR Wallmart had such a HUGE HUGE distribution center that it took them a good part of 6+ months to deplete their storage pool and have not been able to restock from Winchester, Remington and the others. I think it's the latter and that's bad if the big companies are not re-stocking the ever allmighty wallmart just think how bad the smaller distributors are going to be restocking to re-supply the local gun stores. Wallmart must buy more ammo for inventory at distribution locations than probably all the wholesalers put together that sell to Mom and Pop FFL!

Only way this is going to stop is if the entire gun community just wakes up and stops all the buying. Let them all restock and ramp up production for a few months. Wishfull thinking but I doubt it will ever happen, now if you can excuise me while I go out patrolling the stores to buy each and every box of ammo I can find! Even if I don't have a gun for it, maybe some day I will buy one of that caliber.

There is plenty of 9mm and .40 ammo at Wally World around here. .45's are scarce.

Last weekend we had 1 box of UMC .45 in York, no .22 and nothing else that I can think of that people are tripping over. 30/06, .270, .308 we had some of but other than that you could probably sleep 4 wallmart employees on the ammo shelves they were that bare.

I talked with the lady at the Goldsboro Walmart and she said it wasn't that people were buying them out of ammo. But that they were not getting in alot at a time. There were no bulk 22's,9mm,38's,357's,or 45's.They did have a couple boxes of 40's and alot of cci 22's.

Was just at my local wal-mart and picked up a couple boxes of Blazer 9mm and one box of 9mm Remington jhp. They had quite a few boxes of the blazer left and another guy had come up to the counter. As I was gathering up my stuff he asked if there was any more 9mm . The employee said there may be some more under the counter but he was not sure. The guy then said "I'll take all of it" and "I am not a store".

The employee then said that store's policy was only 4 boxes per person. The customer said he just got 5000 rounds at one of the other stores and demanded the floor manager.

I hope they stand by their policy since I will probably shoot up what I have in the next week or so but I have a feeling they will give in to the guy.....

Oh, on a side note regarding the same wal-mart, one of the other employees said their shipments had been smaller than normal and he felt the manufacturers were holding back on their shipments to drive the price and demand up in addition to the hoarding.

Just like gas after a hurricane THIS "buy all I can when I can find it" mindset is why you cant find ammo at walmart.

me? I dont buy my ammo at walmart, had no real stocks at election time and have been able to buy enough ammo to keep up with shooting up to 200rnds a week, I just buy in 500-1k from georgia arms when I run short.
