I went this week to Fuquay Gun and Gold just to look around. I had my wife with me (very patient one) and I was just browsing. She shoots some but is very shy about noise. I saw a Walther P22 in the cabinet and had her print it. She liked the size, she is also very petite. Being a 22 she shouldn't have a noise problem. Anyho I put the thing on laway and started thinking that it would be good to get some feedback from the folks here who have used or own one. How about it folks?

Thanks Net. My wife and I are in our 60's Damn where has time gone? So the old eyes arent like they use to be. He didn't have the laser in stock but had some on BO. I think I will get that for her for grins and giggles. It it's not too unreasonable.

i had one and the reason i had it was it is made of plastic and read too many reviews of abnormal wear on it from metal parts against the slide. that being said it is a excellent .22 other than that. so if you aren't going to put more than 8-10k rounds through it yes i would get one

Great gun. I've had a couple. Break it in with 200 rds of CCI Mini-mags and it will eat most anything after that (same deal with the SIG Mosquito).

At http://www.rimfirecentral.com you can find a large document called the "P22 Bible". A regular on that forum wrote, and it has a bunch of modification instructions, and image. There are a few things you can do to minimize the wear issues, and improve performance.

I have one with about 2,000 rounds through it and the only issue I have had is one of the roll pins wants to walk out on me after about 500 rounds. It is simple to tap back into place. The gun is accurate and great for recoil and noise sensitive people.

My 9 year old grand dauhter has shot about 250 rounds through it and after a good safety briefing she was able to load the magazines, and conduct herself properly on the firing line.

My wife loves shooting her brother's P22. She is not a fan of a noisy or "kicking" (as she calls it) firearm. She also likes the size / weight of the P22.... she doesn't like my Ruger MKII/III .22 pistols and I can't convince her that the heavier weight pistols "kick" less.

In fact, I am searching for a nice used one right now for her so we can enjoy some target shooting together. If I don't find a nice used one soon, I plan to buy her one of the pink P22's (I'll just be sure that I hide it going out of the gunshop ).
