I'm building a couple AR pistols - one 7.5" and one 10.5". A friend has a 7.5" he built from a Model 1 Sales complete kit and it works very well. The buffer tube is foam covered and a longer style than some of the stubby little pistol tubes. I like his.

I've been looking at various kits, but have read that some people have reliability issues with theirs. What do you use and why? Again, I'm looking for a longer buffer tube. Foam covered would be great, but reliability is more important than that.

Thanks!

I have a phase 5 buffer tube with spikes st2 buffer. If you go with the 10.5" barrel it'll have the carbine length gas system and run carbine handguards as well. Mine runs like a champ. I can't say anything about the 7.5" barrel.
