Bodyguard. It is smaller and lighter than the G42, w/ same round count.

DAO triggers, which I generally hate, lend themselves better to pocket carry IMHO. I have come around to the safety factor of this feature.

I sold a Bodyguard with lasermax, but I might buy another one without laser just because they fit in the pocket so nicely. (with holster) The laser is a nice feature, I just won't use it.

Neither. If your willing to carry something the size of the 42 then you can carry a 9mm like a kahr p9, S&W shield, or springfield whatever...

Any reason why you want a .380? Ammo is expensive and the damn things just don't work half the time.

Actually the G42 is quite a bit smaller than the Shield and XDS. And the BG is just a touch smaller than the G42 - mostly in slide length.

The difference can not justify carrying a .380 over a 9. Also there are Kahr's that are small too.

The op said he was willing to carry a g42 which is close in size to a real gun. Yes the BG is small. And there's not a chance in hell I'd carry that as a Carry gun.

Not to break up the .380 hate, but the OP asked between two .380's. Not if he should carry .380. I used to not carry anything less than .45, and thought 9mm too wimpy. The .45s got left at home too often.

Glock made their latest in .380 for a reason. That caliber is not for everybody, but I like it, and carry it regularly in an LC380.

Glock 42. Have shot it and found it to be amazingly friendly to shoot unlike the lcp and other small .380s. Little recoil so I could fire quickly on target with good accuracy. Have only fondled the bodyguard. However, for me the deciding factors are that the glock has no thumb safety and has a normal glock trigger which I find easier to shoot than the long pocket gun triggers. That extra size buys you a lot of shootability, and to me it is worth it. Good luck with your purchase, and I don't think you will be disappointed either way.

Edit... I also own a shield 9mm. The difference in size doesn't look or measure much, but it feels like a huge difference.
We put about 150 rounds of Fmj through the 42 without any issues.

Sent by an idiot.

Ether buy a 9mm like a db9, cpx9 p-11 pf-9 or cm9 or for a 380 a, Tcp, the new ruger 380 , bersa thunder series or the CC or combat or the thunder plus for 15 rounds . Anything other than the trouble prone large glock 380 or the heaviest trigger in the 380 world with bodyguard.

I'm not getting into the caliber debate. :)

BUT if you're buying a p238, look around for the "SPORT 12" model. They'll be less than $550 out the door and come with sig night sight rear, truglow TFO fiber optic/tritium front, hogue wrap around grips (okay I HATE hogue rubber wrap around grips on any gun but that's just my personal preference), an extended extra mag with pinky rest, nitride finish and stainless controls. Not a bad deal. The p938 is offered in the "SPORT 13" in the same config. Basically the "nightmare package" with different front sight and sucky (for me) grips. PSA is selling them for $499 new.

Nice grips, i put Hogue G10's on my two toned. Does your model have the ambi safety?

That's a negative, no ambi safety.

The cocobolo looks really great in person. The other side has a giant dark spot in the wood. Some may not like it, but I like for the wood to have some heavy contrasts. I get disappointed when the grain pattern is uniform on both sides, because 9 out of 10 times that means it isn't real wood. :)
